April 15, 201214 yr Hi I have never had any problems with the NGX version of FS2Crew, if I give the FO any commands he acts upon then spot on. However today I thought I would try Radar Contact again (haven't used it for months), all worked very well until I asked for an MCP Speed. The selection kept running away in both directions, I had to keep using the "Cancel Last Command" option. I checked the Speech log and I was saying the correct commands, also I can confirm Radar Contact wasn't talking at the time so there was no chance my mic was picking anything up other than my voice. Just wondering if there is a conflict with Radar Contact or is it just me ? Glen Glen
April 16, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hi Glen, Doubt it's Radar Contact unless it's trying to control speed somehow. When you opened the FS2Crew Main Panel, did you get a warning regarding the SDK? B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
April 16, 201214 yr I've used Radar contact extensively with all the FS2crew NGX releases and not had any issues for what its worth. Richard Johnson
April 16, 201214 yr Author Bryan No warnings at all, FS2Crew behaved flawlessly as usual until I asked for a speed command when the speed digits just kept rolling. All other comands were fine i.e. heading, course, radio frequences etc. I'll try it another couple of times just in case it was a one off !! If it continues I'll have to consign RC to the control tower - I could never fly without FS2Crew anymore Richard Thanks for your comment, that indicates it might be something wrong with my system rather than the two programs clashing somehow. Glen Glen
April 16, 201214 yr Commercial Member Double check that you are saying "Set Speed XXX" properly. "Set Speed two five zero". That's all I can think of. Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
April 16, 201214 yr Author Good point Bryan, but its definately not that. I use NGX and FS2Crew several times a day (I know sad isn't it ) its only since I started using RC. Unfortunately the wife has got me doing some jobs, so I can't try it again until later. I'll report back anything I find Glen Glen
April 16, 201214 yr Commercial Member Glen, Check your Radar Contact Key Assignments, if there are any. Make sure they don't share any possible assignments used to control the Speed on the NGX's MCP. That's my only other guess. B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
April 19, 201214 yr Hi, I confirm that i'm having the same "runaway" MCP commands. I always use RC and was using it before when all worked ok. I didnt have to load in 2D or anything like that. I simply loaded the plane in VC and everything was fine. For the last 2 flights, i've been having this problem. I will try to re-install this weekend and see if that helps. THe other commands seem to work fine although I did notice some weird responses from the FO from the doing the checklists. I'll let you know if the re-installation does anything. Chris Chris Verner Home cockpit builder ...well trying anyway
April 19, 201214 yr Author I have been having a few problems with Radar Contact so haven't really had a chance to test this problem out further. I finally got the RC problem sorted today so can now resume using RC with FS2Crew and the NGX. I did manage to get one short flight in using RC and the MCP runaway problem didn't occur, so hopefully it was just a one off. Glen Glen
April 20, 201214 yr Author Just had another MCP runaway today (MCP Speed only) approaching EGNT (Newcastle), its weird this has only happened since I've started using Radar Contact. I tend to let the RC FO do all the communication so I am not actually pressing any keys. I don't know if RC is using anything internally that may effect the MCP Speed Control. Thought I had the ideal flight setup there, PMDG NGX, FS2Crew Voice, AS2012 and Radar Contact - Oh well !! Glen
April 20, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hi Glen, I'll bet you I know what's happening. Does the RC FO "talk" out of your speakers? I'll bet you the speech recognition system is "picking up" what the RC FO is saying out of your speakers and acting on that. Since RC doesn't "talk" to the NGX, this is the most plausible explanation. Best best is to keep Hard Mute on for periods when you're not "talking". Or just use the "Cancel last command" if you get a runaway. Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
April 20, 201214 yr Author Already thought of that one Bryan, unfortunately there is no audio output from RC when this happens, or any other action for that matter and its only the 'Speed' control. There must be some interference from RC thats effecting FS2Crew's speed control, its been 100% problem free prior to using RC. Whats strange is it only appears to me and Chris so far this is happening to, there must be others using this combination. I might try and use RC from a Client computer via FSUIPC so its not on the same computer as FSX and FS2Crew to see if that makes a difference. Only trouble is I'll have to get another installation key from JD. Glen
April 20, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hmmm, does RC send out 'keypresses' or anything? Perhaps it's sending out a keypress that's also used by the PMDG? B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
April 21, 201214 yr Hi Guys, The re-installation worked for me. No more runaway MCP. Everything worked as expected on the flight I just finished. Thanks Chris Verner Home cockpit builder ...well trying anyway
