Realtec Sound Set up
I recently had to do a clean reinstall on My system and have been unable to get my sound working as before. Somehow is was able to get it on previous installs but am at a loss this time. I have an Asus p877-V Pro mobo and want engines noise thru the rear speakers (creative 2.0 connected to the rear panel RR/RL port and ATC/Communications thru the front panel via a USB head set. When I test the devices thru the Realtec audio manager all work but I cannot get any sound out of the rear speakers in application even thought selected as default device. The headst does do so if selected as the default. I know its a simple setup issue but I'm at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.

PFPX - First Quick Impressions
Thanks Kevin. I looked at the export list 5 times and didn't see it. I do now. Too long in front of the computer I guess.

PFPX - First Quick Impressions
I might be missing something but has anyone figured out a way to export a .pln file to FSX. I can't find it. Exporting the route to the NGX works fine but I also need it in FSX as I use VOXATC. I'd hate to have to key it in. Thanks in advance. Richard Johnson

No initial departure altitude
I've twice been given a Loop 6 departure out of KLAX. On both ocassions I've been told to "climb and maintain" without a specified altitude. This happens both in the clearance and when I contact the tower when ready for take off.In both situations I have to repeat the "climb and maintain" readbck several times before being able to proceed. Anyone have any ideas? I've flown other SIDs without this happening. Richard Johnson

Thanks! What a great world it would be if everyone responded with your kind of customer service. Richard

Before start checklist takeoff speeds problem
Great. Thanks Brian. One other minor thing I've noticed is that when the FO is ready for the approach checklist, if any command is recognized as "set" (even if I cough into the mike) I get approch checklist complete despite not calling for the checklist. Don't know if this is my issue or a slight bug. Thanks in advance. Richard

Bryan, I'm also using win7/64 bit. Thanks, Richard Johnson

Before start checklist takeoff speeds problem
Bryan, I think John's question regarded the takeoff speeds, not the MCP response. The MCP works fine for me but I have the same problem as John in that V1, Vr, and V2 don't seem to be recognized although the green bar shows the proper response. I generally just followup with "set" to proceed with the checklist. Another question...it appears that I have to set the FO's altimeter mode from in hg (my default) to Hpa if I'm flying outside the US. Is this correct? Aside from the takeoff speed issue (minor) everything has worked flawlessly since SP1 ... a really great product! I comend you for the excellent followup to user questions and overall customer support. Thanks. Richard Johnson

AMD Processor Upgrade
OK, I've got everything up and running and am pretty satisfied.(getting 30 fps with the external limiter running). I'd like to enhance the VC graphics a bit but haven't fooled with it yet. I've also had some issues with the sound levels fading in and out (PMDG NGX) and have yet to chase it down.Last question, what benefit would I expect from over clocking the CPU and is it worth the risk? Thanks for all your help!!!!

AMD Processor Upgrade
Yes, HT threading is on as I see eight cores. Do you recommend using it and if not how do I turn it off (in the bios possibly)?Richard

AMD Processor Upgrade
Your right, it's core 1. Affinity mask set at 224. How dow I check the HT. Is it in the config file or elsewhere?

AMD Processor Upgrade
OK guys, I went with your advice and built a new system with the I7 2600 processor and the 560 GPU. Things look pretty good. I used the Bojote tweaking tool as well. Only issue is that CPU 0 is maxed out. I wouldn't thinks this is normal. Any ideas?ThanksRichard

AMD Processor Upgrade
Thanks guys! No, I don't have any antialiasing & anisotropic filtering on (honestly wasn't aware of it). Resolution set at 1280 x 1024. I do get some shimmering in th VC and it's not quite crisp..I'd like better as I'm guessing we all do.I've checked around at a local outlet and can get a GTX 560 and 650w PSU that should fit in my tower for about $210. I might be able to do better on line but have the hastle if it doesn't fit. Is the 560 a good choice?I also was told that I should be able to use my current Win 7 licence if I rebuild (go to a intell system) and ultimately that's what I intend to do based on your inputs. I just want to make sure that the GPU and PSU I install in the interim don't leave me disappointed later. Comments and thanks>Richard

AMD Processor Upgrade
Thanks Dazz,I think ultimately I follow your advice and buils from the ground up. Two questions:1. What would you recommend (the $500 price range doesn't scare me although I suspect I will have to purchase a license.2. I ran the GPU-Z and the GPU is 75+ consumed. Assuming I"M going to build ultimately, would there be any sense in upgrading the GPU in my current rig even if I need to also upgrade the PSU? I would need these in a new build anyway. Thanks,Richard

AMD Processor Upgrade
Yes, it is an HP system (65640y). The compatibility list is : TDP=125W AMD Phenom II X4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (D) AMD Phenom II X3 7xx/7xxe Triple-Core (H) AMD II Athlon X4 6xx/6xxe (P) AMD II Athlon X3 4xx/4xxe ®) AMD II Athlon X2 2xx/2xxe ®)I'm not familiar with upgrading a processor but was assuming that as long as the socket type and wattage were within limits I'd be ok. I'm not sure about the number of cores however. The integrated card is built into the mobo I believe. Again, I'm a neophyte as far as hardware goes.

AMD Processor Upgrade
I'm considering doing a modest upgrade (specifically the cpu) on my current stock computer. My current setup is:Win7/64 bitFoxconn H-RS880-uATX moboAmd Phenom II quad core processor (2.8 Ghz, 95 watt)8 GB memoryIntegrated Ati Radeon HD graphics1T Hard DriveI'm looking to upgrade to the AMD 975 (X4 3.6 Ghz) or possibly the 1100T (X6 3.3 Ghz) although the mobo documentation doesn't show that 6 core processors are supported.I run PMDG addon aircraft (747, 737NGX) with ASE, REX, UT2 with modest performace with appropriate config settings but am looking for a performance boost. I'd any input as to whether this makes sense and whether or not I shoud expect a performance boost. Thanks in advance.Richard Johnson

Yoke autopilot/autothrottle activation
Thanks and I agree.... I'm good with disconnect ability that I have on the yoke (is this RW?). My objective was to be able to arm the autopilot without using the mouse (possibly a button on the throttle quadrant.Richard

Yoke autopilot/autothrottle activation
Can someone help me with engaging the auto pilo and auto throttle from a button on the Saitek yoke. I've mapped to both and the buttons disengage but will not engage them. A second press does clear the annunciator warnings. What am I missing? Thanks in advance.Richard

anybody else have fatal error in PMDG DLL on load up
I'm hesitant to chirp in here as I was crucified for raising similar problems after installing SP1 on a previous thread....however...I had numerous fatal crashes in FSX after installing SP1 but found it was related to saving the 737NGX as the default aircraft. I don't believe it is related to the service pack as I had not tried to default it with the intiial release. Since then, I have generic FSX aircraft as my default and change afte FSX comes up. I've had no problems and am extremely pleased with the product. At this point I don't want to tempt fate by including the the NGX as my defaul arcraft....Why spoil the fun!Richard

SP1 Install Instructions: Let's clear up the goofball stuff. :-D
Thanks, Computer is win7/64 bit.I've since been fooling with this and it looks as though the problem occurred when I set the 737NGX as my default aircraft, I uninstalled it, ran FSX and set the default aircraft to a MSFSX aircraft, exited, reinstalled the Pmdg and everything is good. Did I make a mistake somewhere in the install?

SP1 Install Instructions: Let's clear up the goofball stuff. :-D
Maybe this is coincidental but I'm experiencing major problems since installing SP1. I made a couple of successfull flights and then exited out of FSX. When I tried to launch FSX I get "a fatal problem has occurred " and it won't launch.I went ahead and uninstalled everything (FSX, PMDG, ASE, etc) did a reinstall including all service packs and launched FSX. Things were fine and I exited FSX. When I tried to launch it again, fatal problem and I'm back at square one.Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Richard Johnson

Aircraft Veers Left
Thanks, I will check the key assignment on the first two items. As for the engine start issue, I did loog at some of the posts regarding this and couldn't discern any good answer. I am certain that the fuel switches are in the cutoff position before requesting the start. I'll try it slow and see what happens. Should I wait for the FO to ask: "Let me know when your ready for 1&2"? I've been making my own judgement on when to proceed.

Aircraft Veers Left
Bryan,I was able to resolve the control issue by removing and reinstalling FSCREW. Interestingly, it also resolved an issue I was having with Radar Contact not recognizing keystrokes. Now I'm left with a couple of issues ( 2 of which are minor).1. The FO never activates the RTO on the autobrake.2. FO doesn't switch on his FD.3. During enigine start he opens all fuel cutoffs, starts two engines, and then when instructed to start the remaining two engines closes those associciated cutoffs. I kept the thrust panel open to see what was happening and it is as I said (all cutoffsa were closed when he started as they shoulkd have been). Consequently I end up with only two engines and go ahead and start them myself. It kind of messes up the procedure flow. The first two items are no big deal but I include them in the event they tie together somehow.Thoughts? Thanks Richard
