Strange V/C screen overlapping/weirdness

There's a fix for this but I can't remember it. If nobody else chimes in register at http://support.precisionmanuals.com and open a support ticket. They should get you fixed pretty quickly.

Be sure to post the solution so I can bookmark this topic for future reference!!

Yes this happened to me as well, after submitting a ticket, here is Ryan's response, works great!:

"This issue may be caused by the default Windows 7 uiautomationcore.dll file, which resides in the Windows system folder and is involved in view switching and menu use.

Unzip the following file into your root FSX folder - this is the Vista 32-bit version of the file and it does not have the problems the Win7 version does:

http://dl.dropbox.co...omationCore.zip

As long as the dll file is in the FSX root folder it will use this version instead of the Windows system folder one."

One important thing to note - this fix is useful even if you have no such problems - it fixes the crashing FS if you change views etc. too much.

Alright, thanks a lot guys, I'll see if this gets it working.

Just FYI guys, we believe this is an FSX rendering issue - here it is happening to me in the Flight 1 Mustang - that's proof that it isn't PMDG code causing it:

It seems to happen when you switch back to the VC from an external view but I've never been able to actually create a reproducible scenario for it - it just happens at random and 99% of the time everything's fine. This is just the kind of weird stuff that happens when you push a 6 year old sim engine to its limits I think...

I also don't ever recall saying that the uiautomationcore.dll was responsible for this - I had that dll installed when the above screenshot was taken anyway.

For fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com

I have had this problem in various addon aircraft for awhile.  Never knew about the uiautomationcore.dll file.

After doing some research I discovered on a few forums that it mostly occurs when going to the full screen VC view.

Switching to windowed mode and back(Alt-enter)cures it for many people.

Usually I only have to do this once during a session but sometimes the problem pops up again.

Same switch to windowed mode and back cures it for me.

I also read that some people think it is a nvidia video driver problem.  That makes some sense to me since for me it started occurring after an nvidia driver update.

Makes sense, I do have an nvidia card. I've never tried the FS > window change to fix, but I also play in windowed mode, so I'm not sure that would help.

This UIAnimationCore.dll fix seems to be working so far, I just hope I didn't jinx it.

Thanks again guys.

For what it is worth, I can confirm I never ever had that problem with ATI card.
