No it doesn't. whereas in real life ATC will ask you to hold neither RC4 or PFE do that so the onus is on you to keep a lookout

and stop in time.

yeh thats what i thought bit dissapointing really hopefully something will be done about that any news on a new pro flight emulator as this seems slightly more real than radar contact as for now i will use the fsx default atc with the edit thing to speed it up

Unfortunately the "Default" ATC is much less realistic (It's a joke compared to real life) than either RC4 or PFE. PFE vers 2.14 is the latest. What is really good with PFE is the regional voices which are used both for AI and for ATC. There is a lot to take in but once on top of it your fp's will be quite accurately modelled.

RC only controls ground AI after you are switched to tower on final. It is there that RC freezes ai to stop ground air from encroaching on the runway. It also can speed up aircraft in front and slow aircraft in back somewhat. There is only no clearance for the user airfraft issued for runway entrance until ai are separated enough. There is no control of approaching ai when you are waiting for takeoff and once you enter the runway FS should take care of that.

In addition to RC's air protection on final I suggest aismooth (for either ATC product) as version 1.2 in the FSX utilities library here. It runs on FS9 and FSX. It allows you to separate ai on final and also from your aircraft (sometimes it can conflict with RC's separation from you but it works further out - try both ways. By setting up separation you can allow ai in the take-off queue as well to squeeze in between landing aircraft thereby reducing the length of the take-off queue. It puts the arriving aircraft in a holding pattern as needed. Version 1.2 adds a manual absent in earlier versions. Just turn off the ATC voice options as RC will take care of that.

Here's my aismooth settings:

I prefer aismooth to fs9 separator because separator warps aircraft out of your way and it was disturbing to see that on a TCAS display. Aismooth just places ai in holding clusters that slowly move around and releases them last in first out.

Another good utility for FS9 only is FS9 Configurator (fs9cfg16.zip) here in FS9 utilities. Among many functions it allows some editing of ground ai taxi speed (this one works) for runway roll out and taxi lanes. don't increase too much or you'll get skidding around curves and a choppy quick movement. Using this can assist in clearing the runway faster as you approach.

I just thought I'd add these two items to deal with ai protection and movement on the ground and in the air since the subject came up.

If you look at the original post "and" the title of the thread the poster has made a general enquiry.

Hello

The Original poster only asked "what is Radar Contact", it was not a general enquiry, he did not ask , what else is out there besides radar contact.

I understand that you use PFE, as I do myself, both have their merits.

Neither of us would venture to answer in the PMDG forum "what is the NGX" with a recommendation to have a look at the i-fly 737.

If you cannot see why your response lacks class then I doubt any of us can help you see why.

Well then, instead of moaning why don't you answer his question and explain ALL the pros and cons. All that others are doing is making the poster aware that there are other choices which is important ro know when you are about to part with money.
