April 27, 201214 yr When I look to the wing from cockpit window all I can see is the NAV and Strobe lights with no sign of the wing, any idea why? Ali A. April 27, 201214 yr PMDG chose not to model the wings in the VC view unfortunately. At the time it was a performance consideration I'm sure.
April 28, 201214 yr Don't know if it's the same but, when i flew DC-10s you couldn't see the wing tip from the cockpit. If you really placed your head against the window, you could barely see the glow of the wingtip light. We used taxi references to show the track of the tip since you couldn't see it. It's due to the sweep of the wing. Rick D http://g5flyer.tumblr.com/
April 28, 201214 yr I have this same issue with the 747X. I'm pretty suew you can't see the wing from the cockpit in real life in that either. Tom Landry
April 28, 201214 yr I have this same issue with the 747X. I'm pretty suew you can't see the wing from the cockpit in real life in that either. I thought that Tom Landry was just the name of a fictional high school... Anyway, if you want to see the wings from the cockpit of a 744, just open the escape hatch. Kenny Lee"Keep climbing"
April 29, 201214 yr Of course Tom Landry was the coach of the Dallas Cowbys and a pretty good one at that. On the other hand me having the same name is just a concidence. Based on what they have said about the opening side windows on the NGX I guess 747 2.0 won't have an opening hatch so I guess I'll just have to trust the wings are there. Tom Landry
May 3, 201214 yr It's impossible to fly the plane without seeing the wingtip. You will never know if you are climbing or descending. Even worse - you arent allowed to talk with ATC when not looking at it! :Loser: Ali forgive me this! :) You dont see any wing, because you should not see one. Thats the way this plane was built. Those lights are simply a bug. Take care!
May 9, 201214 yr Commercial Member Seeing the wingtip from the MD-11's flight deck is almost impossible. If you press your face REALLY close to the rear windows then you just barely see the winglet, but that's not possible during normal operations, you'd have to get out of your seat... Therefore it didn't make sense to model the wings to be visible from the VC. Regards, Markus Markus Burkhard

Regards, Markus Thanks for your input, I do work on real MD11 and I know what real life is, I was talking about what is in the PMDG simulation (lights with no wing), either there are lights with wing or no lights at all if there is no wing view from cockpit, don't you agree? May 10, 201214 yr don't you agree? completely. But what I am saying - it's a bug of your FS or anything else. I dont have any lights visible from cockpit.
