Z68 or Z77 Mobo with i7-2700K?

Featured Replies

Thanks all for replying. I went with the Asus Z77 Sabertooth as it was on sale and a i7-2700K.

Great choice!

What do you guys think of ASRock? I'm planning to get the ASRock Z77 Pro4-M and pair it up with a 2500k -- is it worth the upgrade from an AMD 955 Phenom II (clocked up to 3.8 ghz)? I hope to overclock the 2500k over 4 Ghz.

Don' t buy Asrock, it´s made by Asus, yes, but with lower quality components.

Upgrade from AMD to i5 2500K IS worth it!

:good:

Anxu00.....what Memory are you going to run with your Z77 and 2700 combo?

Hi Randy,

I am using the G.Kill Ripjaws X 8GB dual channel kit as recommended in the Hardware/Software post by Word Not Allowed:

They works fine with Z77. I also got an EVGA GTX 580 superclocked on sale at 379.99. I was going to get IB and GTX 680, but since I am not going with IB any more, I am skipping GTX 680 to save a little :Big Grin: this hobby is *expensive* . With this new rig, I won't be upgrading anything until at least 3 years from now.

i7-13700K 5.2 GHz OC, 64 GB RAM, RTX5090, SSD for Sim, SSD for system. MSFS2020, XP-12, DCS

but since I am not going with IB any more

Get an Intel Core i7 2700K.
