April 30, 201214 yr Well, I dusted off my Nvidia stereo shutter glasses to try out Flight. Although I think the glasses are a novelty at best, I have to admit they work well in Flight. The cockpits are gorgeous with no weird graphic glitches. The real treasure was flying the Stearman. What a hoot! It was like, well, driving a bus from the back seat!
April 30, 201214 yr Yes, even with my red/cyan glasses the 3d is eye popping. And that Stearman, with its wires everywhere, the 3d makes it look great. Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
May 1, 201214 yr I'm considering trying out stereoscopic 3D. What monitor do you guys recommend? Jehan Kateli
May 1, 201214 yr Author You need a monitor with a fast refresh rate. When I bought mine a year ago, I chose the Alienware AW2310 23 in monitor but you should probably Google for "best 120hz monitor" (or something like that) to find out what's new. Keep in mind, though, if you're used to a CRT or IPS digital monitor, you'll probably be disappointed with the color rendering of TN monitors. You get a lot of banding. It's a trade-off.
May 1, 201214 yr Is it only nVidia cards that can do this? I know I had played Portal and Left 4 Dead with red/cyan glasses but I've since upgraded to an HD6850 (for me that's an upgrade - don't need the bleeding edge) with an HDMI out that I'd like to try on my 47" 3DTV. I have read about the third party applications needed to do this but was wondering if anyone else has tried.
May 1, 201214 yr Author I'm not sure what's compatible with ATI cards. My limited experience started with 3dfx cards and eDimensional shutter glasses many years ago. They worked quite well together for Directx and Opengl games. When it came time to upgrade cards, I chose ATI but had to give up on stereo because ATI cards didn't work all that well with eDimensional glasses. With compatibility in mind, I recently chose a GTX470 Nvidia card and the Nvidia glasses. It really is a flawless setup - almost....... I cannot use my glasses on Opengl games. For some reason only Nvidia's Quadro line will do that.
May 1, 201214 yr In 2 days, I get the Samsung SyncMaster S27A950D, and active shutter glasses. This is supposed to work very well with ATI together. With the hatchet TriDef software ends approximately 600 games are supported. Among other things also FSX and Flight. Curious about how it works. When I tested it I can post it. May 3, 201214 yr I just added 2 monitors to my 3d setup. They are the 27 inch 120 Hz acer monitors (now three of them, with the outer two angled in slightly). I use them with 2 nVidia gtx570 cards in SLI, and the setup is called 3d surround. The effect of deep 3d to the edges of peripheral vision is mind blowing. FYI if anyone else is thinking of doing this, the current WHQL nVidia drivers will not work properly with Flight. You need to install nVidia's latest "beta" drivers.
May 8, 201214 yr The 3D is stunning when I am in chase mode. In cockpit mode, everything is doubled; off-set by about 3 inches. An idea how to fix this? Using NVidia

May 8, 201214 yr Author AZsoccer, Do you have the newer Nvidia glasses with the IR transmitter that sits on your desk? If so, can't you just turn the pot on it to reduce the separation?
May 8, 201214 yr The 3D is stunning when I am in chase mode. In cockpit mode, everything is doubled; off-set by about 3 inches. An idea how to fix this? Using NVidia You have to adjust the convergence setting with Ctrl-F5 press and hold. First you must enable advanced ingame settings in Nvidia control panel. Should give you a perfect 3dvision cockpit view.
May 9, 201214 yr After the initial impression, I found 3D troublesome in that I was missing brightness and contrast. You can adjust those up in the displays basic settings, but still I think there is a significant loss of 2D image quality. May 9, 201214 yr Anyone know how to get the 3D working with a 3DTV? Instead of using a 120Hz monitor and Nvidia 3D glasses, is it possible to use the HDMI out of my GeForce570 and Sony 3DTV? <---------------> Mike Murawski
May 10, 201214 yr Anyone know how to get the 3D working with a 3DTV? Instead of using a 120Hz monitor and Nvidia 3D glasses, is it possible to use the HDMI out of my GeForce570 and Sony 3DTV? I am using passive 3D with my LG 42" TV. I downloaded Nvidia 3dtvplay and it works great. you have to purchase it of course, but it makes almost all my games 3D.
