Question about MSFS 2024 and the SteamVR room
Can you see the MSFS 2024 clickable icon in the SteamVR room? I can see MSFS 2020 listed as one of my recent games in the Steam VR room but NOT MSFS 2024. I normally start MSFS 2020 through the SteamVR room. I'd like to do the same with MSFS 2024. P.S. I posted this question earlier, but I marked it as solved since I was under the impression this was a known problem. Now I'm not so sure. I'm wondering now if I'm the only one with this problem

Question about 2024 modeling of deep stalls
Yeah, I own it but the flight model always felt brutally unforgiving - which is to say harder than reality. Thanks for bringing it up though - I'll check it out again!

Question about 2024 modeling of deep stalls
Thanks for all your help, guys! I put on my test pilot hat this morning and ran the test again on the f-18. Twice I couldn't get it to recover. Then I decided to change my primary "recovery indicator" from the airspeed indicator to the AOA indicator. I am humbled to see that, when trying to recover, you can reach a flyable airspeed and yet STILL be flying at too high an AOA. I thought I was reaching a reasonable attitude to start pulling in back pressure, but I had been ignoring the fact I could be at full power with nose down, and STILL have to wait until the relative wind returns to a laminar flow over the wings. Thanks again for walking me through this...

Thank you all for your EXCELENT lessons in aerodynamics. I'll bounce all of it against what I see in my testing.

Question about 2024 modeling of deep stalls
Martin, Thanks for taking an interest. I'll study this more to record the flight data. I first noticed this playing around with the F-18. I would be nose down, in full afterburner, airspeed higher than 200, elevators neutral. Pulling back on the stick should allow me to start leveling out right? I mean with the plane in the above condition, I wouldn't think the angle of attack would be that high. What caused me to post this was that I had just seen the same behavior in the A400. But as I say, I'll collect some data.

Question about 2024 modeling of deep stalls
It would seem to me that, with sufficient altitude, if you got a real plane into a deep stall and it was mushing and losing altitude fast the solution might be to get the nose down to build up airspeed. Once you're significantly above stall speed, pull back slowly to level off. With MSFS 2024, it's not so forgiving. (It seems to me) that the way stalls are modeled, I can be nose down, full power, elevator neutral, and well above the stall speed with no pitch control at all. Of course, this odd behavior doesn't seem to show up in small aircraft with light wing loading. I'm still testing this so it would be premature to declare a "bug". But I would like to know if anyone else is seeing this. P.S. I'm seeing this in Asobo 2024 aircraft.

Do reversers work in MSFS 2024?
With the thrust reverse levers back, you still have to advance your hardware throttle to simulate the throttle levers being pulled back.

Okay, I just found the developer notice that already identified this as an issue.

Does Flight recognize a throttle slider axis?
dburne, How's the joystick spring tension on the Warthog vs the Cougar? I found the Cougar to be too stiff so I swapped the springs with TM F22 springs.

Stereo 3D!
AZsoccer, Do you have the newer Nvidia glasses with the IR transmitter that sits on your desk? If so, can't you just turn the pot on it to reduce the separation?

F4U Corsair
I once read an article stating you could not make a right-hand turnout on a carrier take-off with a Corsair. The premise being that you used up all the right rudder just keep the plane going straight. I've always wondered if there was any truth to the article.

Microsoft's source data for Flight scenery
Okay, I was just wondering if there was some deliberate decision to avoid tempting pilots to use the game in flight planning. Kind of like eliminating crash damage following 9/11, which I see as a sensitive gesture but also an attempt to avoid possible litigation.

Microsoft's source data for Flight scenery
Isn't it best for MS that they keep a healthy amount of expired nav data in their sims and games (and publicly warn of that fact)? I mean, if they claim to be current and someone uses their sim/game to plane a flight, what happens when they go out and run into a tower? Then here come the lawyers.

Stereo 3D!
I'm not sure what's compatible with ATI cards. My limited experience started with 3dfx cards and eDimensional shutter glasses many years ago. They worked quite well together for Directx and Opengl games. When it came time to upgrade cards, I chose ATI but had to give up on stereo because ATI cards didn't work all that well with eDimensional glasses. With compatibility in mind, I recently chose a GTX470 Nvidia card and the Nvidia glasses. It really is a flawless setup - almost....... I cannot use my glasses on Opengl games. For some reason only Nvidia's Quadro line will do that.

Stereo 3D!
You need a monitor with a fast refresh rate. When I bought mine a year ago, I chose the Alienware AW2310 23 in monitor but you should probably Google for "best 120hz monitor" (or something like that) to find out what's new. Keep in mind, though, if you're used to a CRT or IPS digital monitor, you'll probably be disappointed with the color rendering of TN monitors. You get a lot of banding. It's a trade-off.

Stereo 3D!
Well, I dusted off my Nvidia stereo shutter glasses to try out Flight. Although I think the glasses are a novelty at best, I have to admit they work well in Flight. The cockpits are gorgeous with no weird graphic glitches. The real treasure was flying the Stearman. What a hoot! It was like, well, driving a bus from the back seat!
