PMDG 737NG - worth buying it? Is it like PSS Airbusses?

Featured Replies

Johns,Your post is very mis-leading. I have been a beta tester and user of PSS products for a long time. The PSS team is very good, they have had problems and from what I have read they have worked on most of them. I don't fly Airbus's, so that seperated me from the current PSS development effort. With that said, your statement about PMDG's 737 with bugs that have not been addressed is just an unfounded bunch of poppy ####. I have owned and flew every version of the the PMDG 737 from inception to the current brilliant 800/900 series. It is just an awesome product. As the PMDG team has said, are there anything else they could do, well of course, it is NOT a Level D simulator "YET", but getting there, and I might add, closer than anyone else to this state. Don't be surprise if the FAA and its counterparts in Europe and ASia may adapt it for certification (ha ha ha).To the original poster, you can't get any better in MSFS right now than the PMDG 737NG for accuracy, complexity, and realism, I think that just about sums up what a great plane this really is.Buy it, go fly it and enjoy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!CheersBob

It is excellent, as is the 800 & 900 released not long ago for another $22. I love the product! Noel

>HI, I have a couple of questions on PMDG's 737 product.>>1) What is the product like? Is it like a PSS product, i.e.>superb visual models, panel included, many panel functions,>working FMS?>>2) I have read some posts where people want to upload SID/STAR>data - does that mean that the database for the 737 navigation>is not complete?>>3) Do I require a joystick to fly them?>>4) Are they difficult to fly, or about as easy as the PSS>planes?>>If they are the "PSS of 737" then I definitely want them!1 problem here. The PSS Airbus models are far from perfect with respect to visual accuracy.I really like the textures for the PSS A319/320/321 but the model accuracy is quite incorrect.

Johns,Same question from me. Which PMDG bugs? Without being specific it looks like you are just yelling something. No bugs I am aware of.Henri

The PMDG is rock solid! Everything about the PMDG737 leaves PSS products a long, long, long, long, long long, long long long way behind! The learning curve is high but worth the effort. If you lock your self away for 4 or 5 hrs using the tutorials you shouldn't have any problems.I was a PSS customer but after the airbus releases I'm gone! PSS are good if you still fly FS2000! Want the latest? Buy PMDG!

You may be right but I wonder if all you PMDG fanatics(said in the best possible taste)have tried Captain Sims 727 for real quality and realism. It is a plane that has to be flown. There are no bugs in it either.

Did CS ever fix the flight director not working correctly and the inability to track a localizer?Just curious!Jeff

You have obviouly misunderstood my point. There have been attempts to rubbish PSS products unfairly.I happen to enjoy them as I do the PMDG products but there are those amongst us who think that only PMDG are of any value. This is a very blinkered approach emphasised by the childish use of PMDG emblems on their posts. I am obviously wrong about 'bugs'.I thought it was a bug when for no apparent reason the second autopilot disengages when on the glideslope as does the light on the approach button. Perhaps you will correct me and tell me it is my fault. As an aside I should mention that I fly the PMDG 737 range as often as the PSS range and also as much as Captain Sims 727.

I am sorry Jeff I cannot help you I always fly it manually on landing

3x hooray for PMDG, they rule indeed. I own all PMDG products, and will get all of their future products probably too!Thing is, if you want to fly both Airbuses and Boeing, you should have both. PMDG is better, PSS is the only one who made a decent Airbus - nicely looking and more or less OK models and systems.Get PMDG, definitely worth the money and the aircraft systems simply rock!

John,The PMDG autopilot does not disengage on ILS, what does happen is the approach mode will disengage if you are too fast, greater than 160 knots while on the G/S, NOT a bug.I don't understand your statement about the "childish us of PMDG emblems on their post", seems to me that people are proud of what they use. I would have one too if I were not part of the Radar Contact team.Bob

"PMDG 737NG - worth buying it? Is it like PSS Airbusses?"To answer your question, the PSS panel (the exterior model is way off), iFDG aircraft and Thomas Kwong
