Not everyone teaches about UTC/zulu time...

 

Of course, everyone learns about time zones in school. I sure hope so.

Behind the counter, where the pilot turns in his airplane, there are two clocks. One with local time and one with ZULU/GMT time so the college grad pilots get it right.

I never learned about Zulu time.... or maybe I did and forgot... I surely don't recall everything taught to me in school, do you? Anyway I love how the simple question thread turned into a political discussion about US schools... I'm pretty sure these sort of discussions aren't allowed.

Out of curiosity - why do you need zulu time for filing a VATSIM flight plan?

I'm guessing he's using the prefile flightplan functionality on vatsims website.

 

EDIT: Altho, probably not, since it actually lists the current zulu time. IIRC there are a couple of time textfields in SB / FSInns flightplan dialogs as well, altho users are not required to fill them out
