June 22, 201213 yr Author I have a problem with the Eaglesoft Citation X and I wonder if anyone here as the same issue. On starting, the plane idles at 40% and full throttle on my joystick or keyboard never gives more than 80%. I have made the changes suggested on this forum and elsewhere to the FSUIPC4.ini file as well as the citationx.ini file but still have the issue. I have posted this on the Eaglesoft support forum yesterday but no response and am currently waiting on Eaglesoft support to get back to me. Still, any input here would be appreciated. June 22, 201213 yr I suggest you make a separate thread in the FSX forum asking for Eaglesoft's attention on this issue. I don't think anyone from Eaglesoft is following your thread about "Just ordered FSX" :)
July 1, 201213 yr Author The past couple of days have been quite interesting for my in my quest to learn more about FSX and all the goodies available as well as learning how to tweak my machine to run it as well as it can. I've made a couple of purchases recently: EagleSoft Citation X 2.0 EagleSoft BeechJet 400a RealAir Turbine Duke RealAir Piston Duke RealAir Lancair Legacy The EagleSoft Citation is a lovely plan to fly but was a little challenging to setup as I had some issues with FSUIPC and the throttle slider on my Logitech joystick. Once I got that to work, I then had the challenge of figuring out the FMC. This is really a complicated bit of kit and while I have gotten to the point where I can program a fair bit of the flight, getting the Citation to line itself up for a landing approach is proving elusive. Still, it is a fun plane to fly when things go right just to watch it fly itself across the country from waypoint to waypoint. The BeechJet is also ball to fly as its quite responsive and as such, I have yet to use the auto-pilot with it. The biggest challenge is the constant crash to disk whenever I end a flight. I've tried every fix I can find including removing the uiautomationcore.dll from the Windows folder (after a backup was made of course) and putting a Vista version of the file in the FSX folder. The crash still happens. I made a post about this on EagleSoft's support forum on the 23rd but have not received a response. The search continues.. The RealAir trio I purchased are a whole different story. All there are fabulous to look at and to fly. The Turbine Duke gets off the ground like a scalded cat and is quite responsive to the controls. Climbing with this plane is always a hoot. The Legacy was little confusing at first as I had expected it to perform even better than the Duke on takeoff. Turns out it needs a bit of runway to gather speed but once in the air, its a different story. Highly recommended. I wish RealAir would build a PC-21 though, that would be golden. Tweaking has been a journey all by itself. Following the comprehensive guides on this forum for setting up FSX, nVidia Inspector and Windows all helped but it was some tweaking of the BIOS as well as a BIOS upgrade from Lenovo (had me sweating for a minute there) that made the biggest improvement. Stock FSX aircraft are pegged at 30fps (fps is limited in FSX settings) while 3rd party planes are running about 18-23fps in the VC and 28-30fps on the outside views. Again, FSX settings are close to those posted by Word Not Allowed in his guide but I added a bit of traffic as I'm not always flying at 30k+ feet. My experience with FSX for the past 2 or 3 weeks, while frustrating at times, has been mostly positive. Now if I could find a detailed PC-21, Piaggio P180, and 777, I'd be golden :) Chris Magnus HR Manager Air Jamaica Virtual Airlines and Cargo (http://www.airjamaicavirtualairlinesandcargo.org)
July 5, 201213 yr Author LOL, welcome to the world's most expensive PC hobby. It's worth it though! TechguyMaxC, you weren't kidding.... :( Just added REX Essentials to my install and made the mistake of tabulating all my purchases. Big mistake... July 9, 201213 yr Author I've been playing around with REX Essentials over the past couple of days and must say its made a big improvement to my game play, especially the ability to create your own theme. Makes flying around Hawaii, Alaska, Switzerland, and the Caribbean a lot of fun. So the question now is, what next? I've found that I like flying pretty low and through mountains which makes the low quality FSX terrain and scenery more obvious. After lots of reading and experimenting with freeware mesh and scenery, I'm considering purchasing Scenery Solutions UTX for the US and Flight 1's Ground Environment X North America. Is there anything I need to consider or be aware of before purchasing and installing these products? Are their any competing products you would recommend? If yes, why? July 9, 201213 yr Utx and gex-na are both great programs and probably the best of their genres. If you enjoy low and slow, you may want to consider the a2a piper cub accusim or take on a new challenge and start flying helicopters.
