Flight servers going down.......

"Maintenance" is not limited to hardware replacement. Installing a new software revision certainly can fall into "maintenance."

Not that I think this maintenance period is for Alaska, mind you. I don't find that at all likely.

Oh, no... they can release Alaska today and I'll be thrilled. I just don't see it happening.

The servers parts on this game are I presume all related to players' datas and stats, because if you remember well the game is P2P :)

I'm affraid it has indeed nothing to do with Alaska, or if, should be something about the aerocaches maybe...

If they do update the servers because of something that's to come with Alaska, it's likely that they do it well in advance of the launch to make room for testing. Otherwise, if they introduce new bugs with the server update, there is no time to react when people download Alaska and stuff starts to fail, and embarrassment and unhappy users ensue...

If tied to Alaska release, this server maintenance could also be related to the recent problems many people had to DL the Red Tail P-51B. It is not an option for the team that the launch of Alaska is good on tracks, no sand in the dents.

One question : any of you know WHAT SERVER ?? The DLC one ? The stats one ? Something related to Live or/ and Steam ?

I was thinking about the difference between how company's handle these things. Microsoft hands us terse statements that really seem designed to reveal as little as possible about anything whatsoever, and the Trains/Railsim website gives an open, friendly statement including a new service pack, and plans for the future........

Its really like night and day, and represents two very different philosophy's of dealing with customers and the public.
