June 12, 201213 yr The flight communications director must have training from the CIA. As usual we have a terse announcement that raises more questions than it answers: Our servers will be down for maintenance tomorrow, June 13, from 4:00-6:00 PM UTC (9:00-11:00 Pacific). Schedule your flights accordingly! Servers? The GFWL servers? The flight multiplayer connection servers? Does flight even have multiplayer connection servers? It had been mentioned before (and taken for granted) that the multiplayer lag was being caused by a Peer to Peer connection system of some sort...... Repeat: they have servers? What sort of maintenance? Should we expect to see some sort of improvement(s) Bleah. (Its like the amount of licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie roll. The world will never know) I don't even know exactly how this will/might affect things, should I be playing at the time. Consider this a heads up. (about something or other) :unknw: :P We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. June 12, 201213 yr Could they be uploading a few hundred mb of scenery? Steve Smith i7-2600K - GTX580 - 8GB ram
June 12, 201213 yr Commercial Member Could they be uploading a few hundred mb of scenery? That is the Flight Freeware Library with millions and millions of freeware addons going online !! :Pig: :Pig:
June 12, 201213 yr Personally I think it is the usual server maintenance - getting the vacuum cleaner out and sucking a few spiders webs and other small bugs from the works. A bit of polish on the disks to make them shine. They might even have a rake round in the files and be surprised with what they find. Best of all I suspect they will give the carpets a beating while it is still spring. Jon ------- Microsoft Flight Sim MVP Airport Design Editor FSDeveloper.com
June 12, 201213 yr At least it was said. It's better than saying nothing, which wouldn't have been any less surprising. I can hear the howls from those who might have had a planned multi-player session drop off mid-flight. Mike Dryden
June 12, 201213 yr Hummm, Alaska will be available on Thursday... :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

I can hear the howls from those who might have had a planned multi-player session drop off mid-flight. Too right! Of course, they confused things by posting on Monday that it would be "tomorrow the 13th." Except that tomorrow at that time would be Tuesday. So as it stands it's either Tuesday the 12th at 9 pm Pacific or Wednesday the 13th at 9 pm Pacific. Hummm, Alaska will be available on Thursday... :-) Now THAT would be a pleasant surprise! There's no place like this place, so this must be the place.

At least thei added: "June 13, from 4:00-6:00 PM UTC" which gives us a good indication, although UTC time should never be expressed in terms of AM/PM (allways assumed to be 24hrs), so, maintenance window will be on the 13th of June, between 16:00 and 18:00 UTC, (17:00 and 19:00 Local Time in Lisbon :-) ) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
June 12, 201213 yr It is most likely regular maintenance. The Microsoft AoEO team does this regularly. I suspect they will wait until the 27th for Alaska.

June 12, 201213 yr Commercial Member I'm having trouble understanding how the term "server maintenance" means "releasing Alaska" to some. They just have to upload a file...its not like they have to modify the hardware or anything. :Nerd: Brandon Filer
June 13, 201213 yr "Maintenance" is not limited to hardware replacement. Installing a new software revision certainly can fall into "maintenance." Not that I think this maintenance period is for Alaska, mind you. I don't find that at all likely.
