June 27, 201213 yr I have upgraded from ASE to AS2012 and have read here that it also works with FS even though designed for FSX. How is it supposed to do that? In ASE I had to select which sim to use but see no such options in AS2012. Will I have to select that during installation, i.e use AS2012 either with FSX or FS9?

June 28, 201213 yr Author Hi, FSX Exclusive integration AS2012 is designed specifically for FSX I know it's designed specifically for FSX but I have also read that it can be used with FS9.

Since AS2012 was designed for FSX only, there is no such option. There are two major issues with what you are attempting: AS2012 was designed to use Simconnect, and if you install any graphics you run the risk of corrupting your FS9 installation. My advice is not to attempt this. DJ
June 28, 201213 yr I guess you would have to ask the gentlemen telling folks about that FS9 compatibility how he came to that conclusion, especially since wearing a beta tester banner. http://forum.avsim.n...e/#entry2391628 http://forum.avsim.n...e/#entry2391704 But as uebersu points out, the soft is designed and advertised as FSX only, so even if you would get FS9 running with AS2012, there won't be any support. So I'd say stick to his advise and keep FS9 running with the compatible addons while AS2012 feeds FSX only, as intended.
June 28, 201213 yr especially since wearing a beta tester banner I was a beta tester too - my opinion is that what can be done, should not always be done. You are completely correct with regard to support. DJ
June 29, 201213 yr Moderator Since I was the gentleman ( thank you) in question above - I agree with Ubersu. I also said "I believe" and that I hadn't tried it. I was thinking about the weather engine mainly, I agree the graphics might corrupt the fs9 install. Probably not a wise decision NOR a wise post on my part. mea culpa. I was thinking about the weather engine mainly, I agree the graphics might corrupt the fs9 install. Probably not a wise decision NOR a wise post on my part. mea culpa. Vic I was thinking on using the weather engine alone for textures I have REX. Remember being told that there was no reason to have both AS2012 and ASE, why should I was asked. Well the obvious reason would be if you continue to use FS9 you need it. Since AS2012 was designed for FSX only, there is no such option. There are two major issues with what you are attempting: AS2012 was designed to use Simconnect, and if you install any graphics you run the risk of corrupting your FS9 installation.
