Airsimmer question

Featured Replies

Hello! I just purchased Airsimmer airbus and I can't get the joystick to work properly, rudder axis are inverted, and i can't make the flaps to work. I use Saitek pro flight yoke. I don't use FSUIPC for control assigment. Thank you!

I advice that you register at the AirSimmer technical support forum: http://www.airsimmer...php?showforum=6

There are a lot of sticky posts with suggestions on what to do in case you face particular problems.

That will also be the best place to expect assistance from support stuff and all fellow AirSimmer pilots.

Im afraid to say you'd better get used to stuff not working properly as far as the Airsimmer is concerned. You'll be spending a lot of time trying to make it fly! It's a crying shame as the VC is absolutely amazing and the sound set is fantastic. It was so nearly a FS9 classic but I'm afraid with stuff from iFly, Level D, PMDG etc around which works out of the box and has great support I found that life was too short to try to work around the Airsimmer's many shortcomings. A real pity as we'll probably never see a proper Airbus for FS9.

OK, now I can see you finally got through the registration and posted at the AS forum.

So, see you there before it gets too hot here (which often happens once the word 'AirSimmer' gets into use).

Was almost going to get the Airsimmer A320 to replace my old Eurowings (Aerosoft) A320 and also the WIlco A320, but when I researched it I was concerned by the numerous issues that were raised about this product in various forums. It does seem a shame as it has clearly got some great attributes such as an apparently excellent VC. Niggling shortcomings can however lead to a lot of frustration, so I decided to forego the temptation to get this.

Yes i know a lot of frustration!!! I will try to get a refund, i'm so upset! I will buy Quality Wings Bae 146 for my short flights, its the best! I just love Airbus so much that i will stick to Wilco! Thanks for your prompt responses!

You can get a refund within 30 days of purchase without any problem at all.

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

Have you ever tried it? or you're just quoting what people said?

Yes I have it and stick by what I said. There are just too many annoyances with it. The APU ctd, the legs page ctd, the wonky nav modes, the sifting through cryptic forum posts to try to figure out how to make it work, for me, it's just not worth it. Plus my main bugbear which is the fact that I can't use F1 View as you need the mouse wheel to turn the MCP buttons so I have to uninstall that just to load the damn thing.

I can fire up the iFly 737 and go somewhere. I don't need to worry about the aeroplane as it just works so I can concentrate on the flying. The Airsimmer seems to be 99% farting about with and 1% flying, which seems to end in tears.

As I said, it's great but flawed. Tell me that's not the case?

Hey,

Did you try what Rafal suggested on the forum? I am willing to bet you have more then one axis assigned to the rudder. I see it all the time on people's setup.

Ben, what APU Ctd are you talking about? First I have heard of it. 1% flying is bit misleading don't you think?

I have about 400 Hours on both versions now, enroute from Heathrow to Athens as I type this, no dramas or issues. if I log on via teamviewer and configure the sim for a customer it takes a whopping great 30 Mins max, the bulk of stuff has nothing to do with the aircraft, just setting up permissions and admin rights on there machine an cleaning up there FS9.cfg

Why am I always like this? First I promise myself to ignore certain types of threads and then I just can't (shame on me!).

Now it looks like I am an endemic lucky species. I have been flying nothing but AirSimmer for a year's time and made 200+ successful takeoffs and landings, no CTD's or any other stopovers some folks talk about here and there. I just did some necessary tweaks (I do it with ALL aircraft I fly), read tones of docs on how to fly an airbus (trying to fly it the boeing style is a guaranted failure) and want nothing else now (well, maybe except for more AB models, lol). Bad for my yoke which has colected a centimetre layer of dust on the shelf...

I think I don't understand this part. So, how do you turn MCP (FCU?) buttons (knobs?) with other aircraft?

I can fire up the iFly 737 and go somewhere

That's exactly what I do with AirSimmer (and I did with iFly of course, a great addon too) every simming day.

Did you try what Rafal suggested on the forum?

I believe he didn't. He still did not answer some of my questions which were intended to help him, so this is his choice to reach for a refund.

had more than 40 flights n I have never had APU ctd. The legs page has been discussed in sticky posts, yes I had the ctd once or twice but that before I read some tips in technical forums. Be informed before editing wypts the heading mode (pull the heading knob) should be activated, there are tips and solutions in the forum.

Yes it is far from anything perfect but it's a more solid bus now if you spend times to read the known limitations and their solutions. been longing for a good bus and this is the best I got so far, have 2 other bus addons and airsimmer is a lot better. IMO.

Guys I'm not down with the 'Bus terminology so forgive me. I use a combination of F1 View and Active Camera to move around the VC. The mouse wheel moves you forwards and backwards in the VC. In the iFly 737 you just click next to the knob in the MCP to rotate it, or on a PMDG aircraft hover until the little hand appears. In the Airsimmer you use the mouse wheel to rotate the knobs on the FCU, so there's a conflict. The only solution I could see to this was to uninstall F1 View when using the Airsimmer, unless someone has a better idea.

I'd love nothing more than to get it working properly and Flex, if you could spare me some time on teamviewer to get this done I'd be very grateful. Looking at the install process for the ET version (the one I have) on the AS forum looks too complicated for my modest brainpower!

  • Commercial Member

Sure contact me on the forum and we can arrange a session, I have few updates for your version if your on the ET.

Btw, I guess you never noticed, you don't have to use the scroll wheel, just left/right click the actual digits on the FCU
