July 8, 201213 yr I recently got the free Red Tail. Despite it not having a cockpit it was OK. The only reason I got it is because it was free. I am an avid Corsair fan so I decided (after much internal turmoil) to purchase the cockpitless Corsair. As I feared I was disapointed. The soundpack (and it seems the flight dynamics) are identical to the Mustang. I went back and forth a few times and if there are differences they are slight. What are your thoughts? Thanks, Ron Thanks, Ron Fields
July 8, 201213 yr It could be... Maybe they didn't find a REAL Corsair to record the sounds. Alex Leung Aerospace Engineering Undergraduate Glider & Private Pilot via Royal Canadian Air Cadets
July 8, 201213 yr Reading that, I was thinking about the time about 30 years ago, when I was waiting to take the active runway at Tamiami Airport in Miami Fl in a C-152. All of a sudden it felt like the ground that we were on was shaking, with this loud roar. I thought the 152 was about to blow up or something, and I turned around and looked out the back window and there was a P-51 behind us doing it's runup... I'm sure glad it's brakes held. !!!!
July 10, 201213 yr Unfortunately, until proven wrong, I am going to list the Corsair as a Microsoft Flight failure. It came out just as "cockpitless fatigue" hit its max, and pretty much nobody on earth seemed ready to stomach yet another cockpitless plane. I am sure they sold some; but to this day they are rarer than a rare thing in multiplayer. I would not be surprised if corners were cut in its construction, as it was also at about the same time that it became apparent how cash-and-time constrained the flight team was, or was becoming. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. July 10, 201213 yr You can only sell the same useless toy in so many different colors before people decide they really aren't that fun after all and certainly don't need another one. Sad, as the F4U is by far my favorite WWII aircraft. I'd love to have one, even without Missions and Jobs, if only they would finish it.

I heard that they even left out some rivets on the wings.. <_<

Thanks, Ron There are a few handling differences we noted flying in mixed groups, and some speed differences... The Mustang is about 10 kts faster above 10,000 ft, and 30-40 kts faster below 10,000 (straight and level flight). The Mustang is also more nimble, but loses much more speed in a turn. And it needs much more runway for takeoff/landing than the Corsair. If I want to go exploring in a straight line, I'll choose the Mustang -- but for buzzing around the airdrome, I'll use the Corsair. (Of course, that being said, I spend very little time in either, given that they have no cockpits or instruments I need.) There's no place like this place, so this must be the place.
