July 13, 201213 yr just a question, if i were to install a new airport such as King Shaka International, will my downloaded ai aircraft fly to that airport? i have deleted the default MS aircraft in FS9 and run all the required AI aircraft that oporate in RSA. i have the feeling that should i install the airport it will be barron of AI aircraft.
July 13, 201213 yr Your AI aircraft should continue to fly into the updated airport as long as the identifier remains the same. Depending on the number of AI flights added and the parking situation at the default airport, you may actually see more AI aircraft on the ground with an updated AFCAD if it adds additional ramp or gate spaces.

July 13, 201213 yr >> Absolutely right - you would need to update your flight plans to show the new airport ICAO code.<< I guess I misunderstood the question... didn't realize that King Shaka just opened in 2010. Unless your current flightplans already reference the new airport (ICAO: FALE), they need to be changed. In this case replace FADN (the old closed airport) with FALE using TTools, AIFP, etc.
July 14, 201213 yr Author I am fairly new to this, would i need to remove the old FADN scenery? or could i still have both. how do you change the ICAO with TTools?
July 14, 201213 yr I am fairly new to this, would i need to remove the old FADN scenery? or could i still have both. how do you change the ICAO with TTools? Use one of the mentioned tools (I use TTools). Use the program to decompile the flightplan you wish to modify. You will get three text files. The one thst starts with the word flightplan is the file of interest. Open it with notepad, hit Ctrl + h to bring up the replace function of the editor. Enter FADN on the Find what line and enter the new airport ICAO - FALE on the Replace with line. Click on Replace All. When done, save the file and recompile with the same tool used to decomplie. More than one flightplan? Repeat the process for each. No you would not need to remove the old scenery unless it and the new airport occupy the same geographical locatiion. Best regards, Mel
July 14, 201213 yr Author Ok i gave it a try, the problem is that FALE is not in the airports list. i can add it but im not sure what the string of digits are that preceed the ICAO code. it looks like coordinates but not sure. if so does anyone know what i should enter? Regards Steve
July 14, 201213 yr My apologies Steve, the airport entry completely slipped my mind. If you are using TTools, run the Collect Airports executable. It makes a list of all of your airports including FALE. Once it has finished running it will produce a text file named airports. Open that in notepad and do a search for FALE. Copy and paste that line into the airport file of the flightplans you are changing and it will not hurt to leave FADN there as well. BTW: ICAO,latitude, longitude, elevation; example: FADN,S29* 57.93',E30* 56.95',33 -S29* 57.93' is the latitude, E30* 56.95' is the longitude and 33 is the elevation Regards, Mel
July 14, 201213 yr And if it's like my Airports file it will be... FALE,S29* 36.37',E31* 7.63',306 Between FALA and FALI , if you're using Gerrit Geldenhuys scenery v1.10 Nov.2011. Colin B
July 14, 201213 yr Sorry but the above was from my old airports.txt. Latest entry is... FALE,S29* 36.36',E31* 7.62',305 Between FALA and FALI, as above. If your scenery is not on the same drive as FS9, CollectAirports.exe may not get them all. It didn't on mine so I decompiled the traffic bgl again. Couldn't edit previous post. Colin B
July 20, 201213 yr Author Thanks all, got it right. looks good. what is the best FALE scenery. i use the aeroworx scenery but i dont think they have FALE for FS9. i am using the FALE by Juergen Seidel. Steve
