July 21, 201213 yr BTW: Did anyone find lower / higher than ISA temperatures - using the oild temp method with the engine stopped and cold ? Not sure if you ever checked this, but I finally remembered to look at it... After sitting cold and dark for a couple of hours near Kenai, I found 58F° oil and cylinder head temps on both a summer's day and a winter's night. As expected, we're still ISA.
July 21, 201213 yr Yes, last week I ran a battery of tests, with various weather teams, seasons and time of day. It's definitely stuck in ISA. OTOH they mentioned work in progress in the weather area, so, maybe in the future we will get surprises :-) MSFS is one of the few simulators that allowed for Temp and Dew point, as well as temperature layers, although in the end it's weather engine did not really make great use of those parameters. It would be easy to come up with a satisfactory weather model even allowing for non-ISA gradients :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
