July 18, 201213 yr Hi guys, Now I am feeling pretty comfortable in the 737 i am doing more flights all over the place. My most recent been from KSEA to PANC. But, as my title explains, I was cruising along with VNAV and LNAV and I was blown out of the sky! Well almost. I made an emergency landing at CYPZ I think it was due to the wind which was 42kts at cruise level. The problem was, the NGX could not fly in a straight line, it wiggled all over the place along the line but not level. Until one turn it just kept banking, past bank angle warning and I stalled. Wiggling along the line was similar to when you increase the speed to 16x or something and it cant stay on the line. It is probably my fault but I would like to know how to fix it. Thanks, Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
July 18, 201213 yr Do you have "winds aloft" weather settings in FSX checked? If you fly without REX, does this issue occur? Jude BradleyBeech Baron: Uh, Tower, verify you want me to taxi in front of the 747?ATC: Yeah, it's OK. He's not hungry. July 18, 201213 yr The op doesnt mention what weather addon he is using so i cant see why would you mention fly with out rex?. There are alot of posts on s turns etc and the most popular fix is to get fsuipc a registed version and it will fix all s turns on all your aircraft that you have. July 18, 201213 yr 42kts at cruise altitude is actually considered light winds. The important factor for the behaviour you are describing is not how hard the wind blows, it is how quickly it changes. A 'feature' of the FSX weather engine is that it might decide to change the wind more then 20 degrees and/or 20 knots in a second, which is far more then any autopilot can handle. The effect is made worse when 'real-world' weather (or its equivalent) is used which has the effect of completly changing the weather every 15 minutes. The 'paid-for' version of FSUIPC has a feature which allows you to limit the size of the change that can occur in any given second and this is usually set to 1 degree/1knot per second which gives good realism. A good external weather engine, such as ASE or AS2012, has a mode called DWC (direct weather control) which allows the engine to control FSX directly and limit these radical changes to managable levels. Paul Smith.
July 18, 201213 yr The latest version of AS2012 if he is using that, also had something to fix this issue as well Bryan Richards "People depend so much on automation that they forget how to get the automation to work." B.W.
July 18, 201213 yr Author I have the paid version of FSUIPC so I may check the settings out. Is there anything to fix it with REX essentials? Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern
July 18, 201213 yr In your fsuipc settings go to the wind section and tick the smooth wind changes and tick smooth only when airborne and tick the three boxes below it being turbulence, gust, variance,.or if you got the latest version you dont need to do anything since i just read this on another thread Or you can try this go to your rexe configuaration settings in the weather section, under wind turbulence/shear just tick all the 5 boxes, if that doesnt work than untick one by one until you get the results you want. July 18, 201213 yr I have the paid version of FSUIPC so I may check the settings out. Is there anything to fix it with REX essentials? Use REX for its textures, but consider ASE or AS2012 for its weather engine. It is head and shoulders better then REX (for weather Pete, for weather!) Paul Smith.

July 18, 201213 yr Guys, it says right there on his My Simulator what weather program he uses... Tom implemented that for a reason. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
July 19, 201213 yr Author OK, thanks for the contribution guys. I will test it out now. I think I will stay with REX essentials just because its the one big piece of software that works so fluently. I hate having to use multiple amounts to do one task. Both optimists and pessimists contribute to our society. The optimist invents the airplane and the pessimist the parachute. ~Gil Stern

July 19, 201213 yr ..its the one big piece of software that works so fluently.... The one task that REX (and REXE) does very well and very fluently is textures. It does not have, and has never had, a weather engine that worked any better then the FSX default. Paul Smith.

July 19, 201213 yr Author The one task that REX (and REXE) does very well and very fluently is textures. It does not have, and has never had, a weather engine that worked any better then the FSX default. Well I find it does a pretty good job and I am happy to stay with it.
