July 19, 201213 yr Hi Folks. Does anybody know why my Addon Scenery gets knocked out of the database. After switching the computer off. When I return to start FS2004 the next time, all my Addon Scenery has to be added again, as it has all been taken out. It's all in the Addon Scenery folder still, but taken out of the database. Does anybody know what could be the cause of this please. Thanks John
July 19, 201213 yr Are you on Vista or Windows 7? If so, do you run as administrator? Do you have UAC off?
July 19, 201213 yr If you are using Win7 I suspect the cause is that there's another scenery.cfg file in the virtual store that Win7 does not update automatically, depending on your UAC settings. click through this link to find this other copy: start>user name>local settings>virtualstore>program files(x86)>microsoft games>flight simulator check it and see if the scenery is missing from this file and if so, copy and paste into it from your other scenery.cfg file until your settings are changed, you will have to do this everytime you add or delete scenery.
July 19, 201213 yr It's all in the Addon Scenery folder still, but taken out of the database. What do you mean by "database"? Does this mean that when you restart the sim your addons are no longer in the Scenery Library? Or does it indicate that you add scenery to the Scenery Library, shut down the sim, then cannot find the entries in the scenery.cfg? If it is the latter, this is normal for FS9. Your entries will not show up in the scenery.cfg until you restart the sim and shut it down. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
July 19, 201213 yr Author Sorry guys I do not know what UAC settings means. Where do I find them. Thanks everybody for your help
July 19, 201213 yr Author Also when I go to the files you suggest Steve start>user name>local settings>virtualstore>program files(x86)>microsoft games>flight simulator, there are two .cfg files there 1. Newscenery 2. Oldscenery also there is anothe scenery cfg file in the AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/FS9 folder. All three of these cfg files have different amounts of scenery up to about Area 50, or Area 51. But the scenery cfg file in the actual scenery folder of C:program files (x86)/Microsoft games/Flight simulator goes up to about Area 103. This is all a bit confusing for me. I don't know what all the different scenery cfg files do. Am I supposed to copy all the Areas up to 103, than paste them in to the other 3 scenery cfgs already mentioned? Don't get it sorry. John
July 19, 201213 yr These duplicate scenery.cfg files are a pain but are used to in a system restore depending on the restore points Windows create....something like that. Anyway, it seems that when these files are present, Flight Simulator will read off of them, so yes, you need to bring them up to the same areas as in your FS folder. Not everyone has this problem, so it has to do with the security and user account, administrative controls and whether or not you are logged in as the administration, etc.....
