July 20, 201213 yr I have been eyeing this product for a long time now, wondering should i buy or not. When listening to all of the different videos, both promotional and individual, the only thing that tends to put me off, is what seems like the sometimes "Smart Alec" replies from the F.O. Is there any way to control what the F.O. replies when given a directive? i.e. If you say "Select heading 260", can you set up MCE to have the F.O. reply "260" or "Heading 260" or "260 degrees" and nothing more? Thanks, Rick Hobbs
July 20, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi Rick, No sure what you mean by 'Smart Alec' replies from the FO? Travis is a very loyal FO, but he does get frustrated sometimes and 'nags' you, but you can stop that if you want  You can write you checklists if you so want, then you can have complete control on what is replies and says. In fact you can do whatever you want in MCE, its that flexible. I'm in the process of writing a 'back story' about Travis; rumour has it he is a bit of a ladies man :P We will have to wait and see If you find that MCE can't do something that you want, then ask here, if it cant be answered here then the FS++ team are first class with support. Hope this helps you make the final decision to get MCE. I have most addons and I would rate MCE as one of the best along with EFB. Clive Clive Joy
July 20, 201213 yr Author Thanks Clive for clearing up a few points for me. I assume that if you can write your own checklists, that you can just take and edit existing checklists? Have downloaded MCE to try out and i will be sure to apologize to Travis Regards, Rick Hobbs
July 20, 201213 yr The modulare nature of MCE makes it very easy to choose what you want and dont want. At the moment I am using the ATC feature and using the co-pilot to tune the radios. (hate doing it with the mouse!) I am going to get some radio hardware soon so I can tune myself. On that topic, the manual refers to Go-Flight hardware. Does MCE also work with other radio hardware such as Saitek etc? Cheers, Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD

Does MCE also work with other radio hardware such as Saitek etc? Cheers, Sure does. I have used both the GF46 and the Saitek Radio Module, and they both work fine with MCE. I switched from the GF46 to Saitek because I had trouble with the GF46 'dropping out' (not being recognised by W7). There is a thread about that on here somewhere.
July 20, 201213 yr Here is the GF46 thread. http://forum.avsim.net/topic/340230-go-flight-gf-46/ Not a MCE problem, and it's a shame, because I preferred the operation of the GF module. But I got fed up with firing up FSX/MCE/Shade etc etc, then loading a flight, only to find that W7 suddenly didn't recognise the GF46 and have to start over. Once it was there it was there (for me - I know others had it drop out mid flight), but it was just too unreliable. The Saitek works fine.
August 25, 201213 yr I have to agree with you, I wish there were a way to turn the F/O reply off. All I want is for the command to be executed and the F/O to shut up. He rambles on and on and on with phrases like "Cant manage more than two things at a time boss..."only got two hands" and more. Once given a command he will ramble on and run three or four sentances in a row that don't even make any sense. It's very frustrating, even to the point where I don't even use the program much anymore.
August 25, 201213 yr Hi Everyone - the Ol' Blackbird has landed - for a moment. Draw54.....got a couple of tips for you.......... First - if you want Trav not to respond verbally, but just do what you tell him, do the following: add "DickisHere=1" (no quotes) to the [OPTIONS] section in mce.ini. This action does NOT get rid of Trav - it just silences his voice. "He" is still fully functional. This is what I do, and (for me) it makes the flight more "pleasant". Hope that helps! Also, you might want to sign your name in your posts. Finally - you might want to check all the Pinned topics - Alpha117 has done a Yeoman's job of assembling some great tips and info for us - so check 'em out, eh? Okay - I'm outa here for now - off to load and listen to the newest F.O. - see if I want to let him / her on my aircraft -. Thanks, FS++ for the new voices - you folks are the BEST!!!!!!!!!!! BTW - v 2.4.9.4 is just great!!!! Can't wait to see what you all add next!! All best, Ray Landolt (Blackbird)

Perhaps the FO's simulated behaviour will not please everyone, I believe the FS++ team have the right balance between an obedient FO and the need to comply with standard operating procedures. And it has taken them years to get this right. If we let computers do their thing, co-pilot could be dialing speed, altitude, heading all at the same time. How realistic is that. If we let the FO just execute any action, it won't be long before the FS++ team get flooded with complaints about the FO shutting down engine mid-air or extending the gear when the user is sneezing. Of course if you want FO to just execute command without checking anything, you can create own voice commands in Voxkey. You will soon discover why that doesn't cut it. Voxkey which works like VoiceBuddy is only suitable for sending the odd key combination to trigger something in the simulator, or to be temporarily used with aircraft that MCE doesn't interface yet. Could you give an example of 3 sentences stringed together that don't make sense? Hi Everyone - the Ol' Blackbird has landed - for a moment. Draw54.....got a couple of tips for you.......... August 26, 201213 yr wanabflyer I'm a new MCE user, and was evaluating it against Its Your Plane and VoxATC about a week ago. At first, I found Trav's "smart alec" responses to be a strike against MCE as well. Then I found out about the verbal command "Stop nagging me." It greatly cuts down on the MCE copilot's verbiage and works as a good "professionalism" switch. Now Trav generally just gives basic responses. One thing I've found is that he does still occasionally get his boxers in a twist and reply to a single command with a string of responses, mostly inappropriate to the original request, like "Sorry could you clarify that. That's set already. I've only got one pair of hands. You're welcome." I put the MCE voices through an external speaker, and what I think is happening is that Trav is hearing his own voice and misinterpreting it as verbal instructions. I know for sure that he does sometimes respond to the purser or ground mechanic. It's a small niggle, but I'm working on ways to get around it.
