July 27, 201213 yr Manny, So I did number 2 and now my CPU only goes up to 3.8 GHz......I hope to be all set now!! :) I also ordered this CPU cooler....Is that a good one? http://www.newegg.co...N82E16835103099 i just logged in here from the baggage area of Las Vegas Mc Carran airport just to check on you. :) I am glad they have a decent WI fi for free unlike the silly DFW or Chicago O'Hare. I am glad it worked out. Yeah..I think Newegg sent you another RMAed MB that had the old multiplier in it. But as long as everything works then you are set. Make sure all the USB 3 things work. Insert your mouse if its USB on each USB port to see if they work. I had issue with a pair. For now, keep your Cooler unless you are willing to RMA it and get your money back in which case... depends on your OC target. IF you want modest OC like I have 4.4 - 4.6 then the 212 EVO would do fine. If you are not going to RMA the cooler you currently have...we can see how far your OC would take you with that before plonking any more money. If you want to target 4.6 or something, then you may have to budget $100 or so for the water cooler. Manny ah you have already ordered the 212 cooler..np. Thats a good value for money cooler. Thats what I have. I am ok for now with my 4.5Ghz OC. But watching Max and others break open their CPU, I am getting real itchy here...so I may go that route... but I want to simply enjoy FSX for a while...after 3 years of not simming. :) Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
July 27, 201213 yr Quick question. So after leaving on my PC on all night it shut down again just before being on for 12hrs. Is that normal? Will the CPU Cooler that I bought help? Did it shut down and start beeping because it was too hot? Thanks!

July 27, 201213 yr Have you the latest bios? The z-77 boards can have some random shutowns with 3770 -3570 I have no problems with that when run the 2700k , but when swapping to the 3770 à have that only on idle . No problem after bios uppgrade. Dont seem to be only one brand GA Asus Asrock MSI all have it more or less http://

Did it shut down and start beeping because it was too hot? Thanks! Hmm..That shouldn't happen. Are you sure its not going into sleep mode? Can you turn off going into sleep mode (google for instructions how to do it for Win 7) and try again. About this beep. What beep are you getting and when exactly. You have not OC anything and hence you should not get any heat issue unless you have not setup your cooler properly..no proper contact. I am doubting thats the cause. but just check visually to eliminate that as the cause.. Without OC ing (your current state), can you run Prime 95 and post your temps using core temp? Manny Can you also go into BIOS and post screenshots of every page within AI Tweaker. Since the MB came some settings alreadyyou and it looks like used my option 2 and not option 1 to reset you BIOS. I want to make sure there are no other foul settings in your BIOS. To start clean, its best to remove the cell battery or reset you BIOS, and like Westman said, get the latest and the greatest BIOS from here http://www.asus.com/...8Z77V/#download Copy that file to an USB drive and read how to update bios. Read the manual how to do this properly And then reenter date in your BIOS and don't do anything else in BIOS In Windows turn off Sleep mode completly like in "never goes to sleep mode". then leave FSX running overnight and see if you are getting this problem Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
July 27, 201213 yr So my computer just turn off excel for the fans and everything else I guess and just starts beeping until i turn it off......Manny I will loook into your post tonight. Thanks!
July 28, 201213 yr A bit late coming for me, but... One thing I noticed is that the temps on the above thread are above 50c in idle? Is that correct? And are these problems happening only when overclocked?
July 28, 201213 yr Hi all, I am sooo stupid.....my TPU was indeed on!!!!! I dont know what I thought that it was off!!! Howerver now my I boot my PC i get this screen...and I need to restart and go into the BIOS to sleect my SSD.....Why?
July 28, 201213 yr If you have other Disks, disconnect them all except the drive you want it to boot from. Then start and hit DEL key and go into BIOS and select the drive that you want to boot from as your boot drive, hit f10 and go into Windoes Then shut down and connect your other HDs. And everything should be fine. I had this issue when I reset my BIOS... It was picking the wrong disk as the boot disk and I had to do this since I had too many disks connected and it would not even allow me to select my SSD as the Boot disk until I disconnect everything except my SSD that had the OS in it and the DVD drive Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter

Why so complicated? Just go into BIOS and set your boot disk to boot from and remove all others from the list.
July 28, 201213 yr Why so complicated? It only allows one of two HD's to choose from ...if I remember correctly. I had 4 connected and it would not list my SSD to choose to boot from. So if he cannot see his primary OS HD on the boot from list within BIOS, he has remove the others. :) Manny Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
