July 25, 201213 yr I have several Royal Air Force and Royal Navy aircraft with no callsign. What is the proper FSX callsign for the Royal Air Force/Royal Navy aircraft? Thanks, Bob.
July 25, 201213 yr Hi George. Thanks. That's great! Does the FSX ATC use any of them? Bob. I suspect you're actually asking about the airline callsign used, rather than the individual callsigns (essentially an alternate for tail numbers). For the RAF the ATC airline is 'RAFAIR' (ICAO code: RAFA). The RN Fleet Air Arm is 'NAVY' (ICAO code: NAVY). British Army helicopters? No idea, sorry. (Edit: it appears that Joint Helicopter Command helis just get a 'RAFAIR' designation) FSX ATC doesn't use it, by default, since there aren't any military ATC by default. However, if using MyTrafficX then sure enough the FSX ATC will refer to them as RAFAIR flights. Edit: For Bonus fun, the national grid's line inspection helicopters are operated under the ICAO code of 'GRD' and callsign 'Grid'.
July 25, 201213 yr Hi all. OK. Thanks. I'll set it to RAFAIR. I appreciate the help. Bob. I don't think that's what you are looking for! Each Military squadron has their own unique call sign. Look at this site which has Military AI for FS, under the resources menu you'll find voicepacks for editvoicepack to add the squadrons callsigns to FS ATC, at least for the squadrons they have packages for themselves. http://www.militaryaiworks.com/index.html Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
July 26, 201213 yr I'm not sure what level of knowledge you are starting from, so excuse me if I insult you - I had no such intention. Just knowing the correct callsign and inserting it into the aircraft.cfg won't necessarily get FSX to say it - the phrase needs to be included in FSX's "vocabulary". The EditVoicePack programme will add many additional callsign soundfiles to the FSX default list, import words & phrases constructed by others [some AI add-on packages come with callsign sound files] and enable you to make your own words and set them up as callsigns. http://www.editvoicepack.com/ Most of the squadron level callsigns are probably missing from FSX. If you are interested particularly in military flying, this site may be useful to you: http://www.militaryaiworks.com/ It offers military AI but in FS2004 format - I believe they can be converted to FSX although I've never tried it. But more relevant to your original question, it ialso offers many military VoicePack callsign files for free download and insertion into FSX via EditVoicePack. I think there will be some UK ones in amongst the vast array of American ones! I think EditVoicePack will put FS2004 voice files into FSX without difficulty.
July 26, 201213 yr Author Hi Thanks. Yes I am aware of EVP. I was just looking for a list that I could refer to when editing the aircraft.cfg to get the proper ATC default callouts. I have EditVoicePack and VPEdit and can hear all of the callouts but I can't print the list. Reggie Fields put out such a list a long time ago for FS9 but I have never seen one for FSX. Regards, Bob.
July 26, 201213 yr I was thinking about that list within the last 24 hours when I noticed my WoAi Germanwings aircraft weren't triggering a callsign. I think I had a hardcopy of a list of callsigns & aircraft type designators it until about a year ago when I moved house. Now it's saving the planet in some recycling plant...... Is this the list you're looking for? http://www.flightsim...66&d=1227184151 It's pretty short and I bet 25% of those have since gone out of business [although not Air Force, Marines & Navy!].
July 26, 201213 yr Author Hi. Thanks. No that's not the list I wanted. You can open the airlines.cfg with Notepad and get the FSX list of airlines. I wanted a list like Reggie Fields put out a long time ago for FS9, updated to FSX. It listed the atc_models and atc_type for all the aircraft. Regards, Bob.
