I'm after a really high quality scenery for X-Plane, and was very impressed by the screenshots I've seen of RS Oahu. I am using X-Plane 9 on my MacBook Pro at the moment (it's not powerful enough to run v10 smoothly), and don't have all of the world scenery discs installed (to save HDD space). If I buy and download Oahu, do I need the world scenery region installed for that area?

 

I'm also looking at the new Carenado Caravan in envy - do you think these two would go well together?

I'm not sure if you need this region from the default world scenery. If yes, just ask the installer to add only this part of the world:

I would like to add the OSM2XP to it, but am a relative XP newbie and have no idea where to start. Would you be able to give me a little guidance? I'd really appreciate it!

I fired up both the Caravan @ Oahu, to take some quick shots, but you beat me to it. A great combo of scenery and plane. They go together very nice.

This is also a great plave to fly the DC-3!

There is converted OSM data you can download off the net. I think I got this from the.org

Fantastic screenies!

 

I purchased Oahu, but can't get it downloaded. The installer just crashes with an error "Cannot read the ZIP file Index_Map_Oahu.zip". Tried many times, rebooted, deleted the installer, deleted the said file, no joy! Have written a note to X Aviation so will see.

I too am experiencing the same error when I am downloading Oahu.  I sent an email to Real Scenery who told me to contact X-Aviation, but I am awaiting their response.  Can either of you let me know what needed to be done to get it to work??  Any help would be appreciated.

What are you using to try to open it? have you tried 7-zip?

I have winzip........what is 7-zip???  My winzip opened the first part of the installer .....do I need that particular unzip program for it??

7-zip is a free file extractor that sometimes works on files that others cant open. http://www.7-zip.org/

 

Its worth a shot, and good to have in your inventory, anyway.

Its really nice scenery but it's only one Island. If you are like me you will get bored of it in 5 minutes. Hopefully they will finish the rest of the islands one day. At the current pace it will probably take them another 10 years.
