RealAir Legacy for summer only?

I don't know if you had a look on the Aerosoft Katana yet

Yep, that's one of the few add-ons I intend to buy in the near future. A friend of mine did a review for Aerosoft, and the detail is simply astounding!

Flying gliders since 1980

You can find the "automatic" carb heat ON gauge creation in this post

Realair could have added it and nobdy would even have noticed the issue as it is all in the background.

So that is just to bypass the FSX problem. As I understand it is something efffecting all fuel injected engines.

As I said and easy way to bypass this is to create such a gauge.

If I knew it was there, and masked...............it would bug me forever. Carb heat is something that I'm real particular about, in real life flight, since high altitude takeoffs or go arounds with carb heat make such a difference, in performance. I would not want it as standard..........as well as changing engine parameters to try to make up for it.

Well to be honest the difference is neglegent for me.

I enjoy my legacy with carb heat. as they say different strokes for different folks..

Er... I think you are missing the point. The real Legacy has no carb heat at all: it has a fuel injected engine. This is a known FSX bug. In every plane that has a prop FSX builds up ice on a carb, even if the plane has no carb! Imho RealAir should have turned on 'carb heat' by default to prevent this problem: no one would have noticed. You simply turn on the so called carb heat to prevent the bug from doing what it shouldn't be doing in the first place.

Just to clarify... does the RealAir Legacy perform better than it's supposed to without this "fake" carb heat on? Cos that kind of thing would drive me up the wall.

If they did adjust power to be right with this fake carb heat on, then surely they must include a way of having it automatically on from the start (and preferably no way of turning it off). But if the RealAir engine is tuned to run by the book with carb heat OFF, then turning it on will cause a drop in power. So if there's no included auto-carb-heat-on with the RealAir legacy, then surely the engine is putting out the wrong horsepower half the time.

There is no carb heat modeled in the legacy. It's fuel injected, therefore pressing "h" does nothing but overcome the FSX bug. It's that simple.

Yes, I'm very aware, that fuel injected engines don't have a carb heat setup. Like Rob Young says...............just hit the "h" button, if it bugs you. I guess...

Amen and the guage I referenced do just that. Turn it on in the background and no one knows about it. As you said this should have been added from the start and nobody would have ever noticed this.

And just to be clear.....pressing 'H' in the Legacy has zero impact on the engine performance. It is simply a way of getting round the FSX carb icing bug.

I created an xml for it as was posted in the linked post. Now I won't have to think about all this anymore.

True. I didn't expect this to be honest. The other planes of mine drop MP, but the Lance remains static. Even better.
