August 19, 201213 yr Jcomm, there are more sims about than just xplane and FSX. I wouldn't say that xplane offers some of those things that others do not as it would seem you dont use a larger variety. Not meaning to say xplane is not good at the things you say either but there are other sims in the world as well as xplane and fsx :)

Not meaning to say xplane is not good at the things you say either but there are other sims in the world as well as xplane and fsx :) Of course there are! Putting aside the military ones, like DCS-p51 which I never tried but would very much like to, and my good old ELITE (one of my preferred when it comes to IFR training), I am going to be crucified for saying so, here at the X-Plane forum, but, excuse me... MS FLIGHT does it better then any other I can think about in just about every aspect, including stall/spin behaviour... Then there is Flight Gear, now in version 2.8 with a new JSBsim flight dynamics model - my only problem with that sim was that I hate the joystick configuration in that sim, but there are some great models for FlightGear, not bellow in quality to the best I know for FSX or X-Plane right now.... I never tested Aerofly FS (?) :-) I am giving X-Plane a fair try because I think that right now it is the most promising project we have, unless somethings really very good happens with Prepar3d v2.0.... August 19, 201213 yr Author I dont think XP can deliver the startling realism and fun of ORBX PNW, yet.... Well, but that is "only" the World view perspective, something that for me can be almost as basic as it is in ELITE GEnview scenery areas (well, preferably not so limited...) provided the main features are there... It's much more the flight dynamics, the systems modeling, weather modelling that really interests me in the very 1st place, and in that area, properly designed aircraft for X-Plane can certainly perform realistically... August 19, 201213 yr I have invested quite a bit in FSX, and I love it. It's sad that MS won't do anything else with it. Right now, my usage is 75% FSX and 25% XP10, and that balance with shift slowly, but surely. For me, there will be two milestones: 1. 10.2 is released for 64-bit systems 2. PMDG decides which product it will replicate on XP10 I also get a sense that the developers at Laminar listen to our feedback, and they have a good attitude toward 3rd party developers, which will eventually make things even better, such as AI traffic, new scenery projects, and more aircraft. My 1st add-on is Javier Rollon's CRJ-200, and I love it. Here are some of my wish list items: 1. Airport terminals, just like FSX did 2. Buildings and major landmarks of the world's major cities, just like FSX did 3. Seasonal textures and a real-time moon phase LUIS LINARES Processor: Intel Core i9 6700K 9900K (5.0 GHz Turbo) Eight Core; CPU Cooling: NXXT Kraken X62 280mm CPU Liquid Cooler; System Memory: 64GB Corsair DDR4 SDRAM @ 3200 MHz, RGB; Graphics Processor: 11GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, GDDR6, Primary Drive: 2TB Samsung 850 Pro Solid State Drive (SSD)
August 19, 201213 yr Author 3. Seasonal textures and a real-time moon phase +1 :-) and I agree with your other points too... For me X-Plane is now the way to go :-) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)
