PTT with VoxATC

Featured Replies

If anyone can clarify this i would appreciate it.

So i've assigned PTT within menu in atc settings MCE which is the same button i have assigned in VoxATC menu. But i have disabled ATC use in MCE by unticking it in menu as i use VoxATC. In MCE config i have enabled 'Use with VoxATC=1'

Issue is sometimes F/O still thinks i am talking to him when making ATC contact when i am pressing my PTT, Sometimes, Not often but it happens.

As a test i said 'flaps 1' to atc and F/O responded. I know its irrelevant to ATC but i thought F/O was deaf when PTT is used.

So have i set this up properly?

Thanks for any advice.

Kind Regards

Simon.

Hi,

Make sure you edit the "mce.ini" in C:\Users\your_user_name\AppData\Roaming\Multi Crew Experience\ folder and not the file in MCE installation folder which only acts as a backup.

In addition, the option should be under [GAMEPAD] section, and should be written as

'UsewithVoxATC=1', with no spaces between words and no quotes.

Thanks

Hi Simon,

Just wanted to make sure you're sorted now ?

Just re-read my post above and i hope it read that my setting 'UsewithVoxATC=1' was already correct in mce.ini file. So i have'nt altered anything since starting this topic. I'm sorry if that was not clear. Most of the time its fine but occasionally F/O thinks i'm talking to him. I checked that i talk after pressing PTT and not before. I would be interested to know what exactly 'UsewithVoxATC=1' does when enabled. What instruction MCE is under with this.

Clive, do you think i have it set up correct according to what i typed on the first post here? Anyway i will continue to test and will report back if this continues.

Thanks

Kind Regards

Simon.

Hi, Guys.......the Ol' Blackbird has landed just for a moment.......

Simon - question for you - and Clive, maybe you can chime in with a response, please......

In your very first post, Simon, you say the following:

"So i've assigned PTT within menu in atc settings MCE which is the same button i have assigned in VoxATC menu. But i have disabled ATC use in MCE by unticking it in menu as i use VoxATC." The second (red) sentence is the one I have a question about - for Clive.

Clive - if Simon is using the UsewithVoxATC=1 switch, he does not have to untick anything in the menu, does he? Could this be causing the issue that Simon is having?

I know you are quite handy with MCE, Clive - so I defer to your expertise. It just seems like Simon should not have to untick anything if he is using the aforementioned switch.

Okay - anyway, good luck, Simon........... and thanks, Clive!!

All best,

Ray Landolt (Blackbird)

Thanks for the reply Ray

I've done some short tests recently and was able to contact ATC without F/O interfering. This is with ATC option disabled within MCE so i don't know what would happen if i enabled it. I just assumed it was to be enabled for use of FSX ATC or RC.

At the moment i'm not concerned by it as it only seems to happen sometimes and as i say not on the last session i had running. I can only assume then that i have it set up as i should. I will keep testing though.

Kind Regards

Simon.

I'm also struggling to get VoxATC (demo) and MCE to play happily together.

When used in conjunction with VoxATC should MCE be set to NOT have "Exclusive access to recognizer” on its "Command" setting tab?

Thanks

Peter.

I tryed this with and without "Exclusive access to recognizer” and when disabled Windows loaded its own voice recognition program. So i run with this enabled even though VoxATC is also running. Seems ok like this.

But yes the setting seems to give the impression only MCE would work but VoxATC runs as well.

  • 1 year later...

Hi all,

the issue is still not solved.

I have it as well with MCE 2.5.78 (newest version) and VoxATC 6 using a CH Yoke Button.

~80% of the time FO is still listening though I've set 'UsewithVoxATC=1' and defined the same button for ATC Comms.

Unticking/Ticking the ATC option does not change the behavior. Exclusive use of the recognition engine doesn't change anything as well.

One thing:

MCE thinks the button is #9 while VoxATC states it is #8.

Since VoxATC works fine with the button and MCE does not, I would guess there is something broken within MCE and the button numbering....

Any Idea?

Cheers

Stephan
