August 24, 201213 yr Moderator This is one of those frustrating glitches that someone at F1 is just not taking the time to fix despite numerous requests from users and developer. Oh please, at least lay the blame where it belongs, which is at the feet of the intransigent and wholly uncooperative anti-virus companies! Flight1 has been battling with the AV companies for many years without success. It would not take but a moment of the AV company's time to create an exception for this specific case. They just don't want to... Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 24, 201213 yr Commercial Member This is one of those frustrating glitches that someone at F1 is just not taking the time to fix despite numerous requests from users and developer. As suggested, consider buying it from another source. JJ Ok, I really can't go into detail as to why this triggers an AV alert, but I hope you can believe me when I state that there is absolutely not one single thing Flight1 could ever do regarding this except for contacting the AV companies, which they have. Not a single AV company is willing to do a thing about this false positive. It is what it is and blaming Flight1 is definitely unfair in this regard. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
August 24, 201213 yr N4gix and Ed, If this was made known in the past, then I'm sorry I missed it. I'm better informed now than I was a few minutes ago. However, when I encountered difficulty downloading the addon in question, I did not find the info you just offered. Thanks, JJ Jean-Jacques CYND, Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport, Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

However, when I encountered difficulty downloading the addon in question, I did not find the info you just offered. http://www.flight1.c...e=wrapperinfo#3 I get a DLL or other file error message, or my virus scanner gives me a warning. Unfortunately, one of the most common issues when people can't get software to run is interference from a virus or Spyware scanner. Although they do good things, in many cases they can interrupt programs you may want to run. If you get an error message that does not appear to be from the downloaded EXE, you need to make sure your virus or spyware scanner is disabled prior to running the EXE. If you are concerned about this, you can scan the file prior to running it, and then after your purchase, if you are prompted to automatically run the setup application, select No, then manually scan the setup application. This is usually extracted right after your purchase is made. False-Positive reports with software is common. If you have special concerns, please submit a customer service ticket and we will try to help. Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 26, 201213 yr I'm using AVG. Keep getting the threat warning and won't allow me to download. It just stalls. You have to temporarily disable your resident shield during the timeframe you try to install the aircraft. Then, after it is installed, you can immediately re-enable your resident shield. Ken One thing I dont understand is that supposedly thousands of users have experienced this false positive, but for some reason AV software still flags Flight1's wrapper as a virus. Have there been no communication with these companies in regards to adding the Flight1 wrapper to the whitelist, or are these companies simply ignoring requests? What is the name of the antivirus packages that flags this as a virus? Tons! All initiated by Flight One that has steadfastly identified the source of the false positive and tried to get the leading AV companies to make changes to accomodate the need to verify purchase data as a legitimate anti-theft, anti-piracy device. And since people still get the false positive, you can see for yourself the good it has done! Ken
