August 28, 201213 yr I have been enjoying my GA flying with both REALAIR Dukes and am now looking at getting amongst the PMDG NG Series. Just want to know if there is any real impact on FSX performance with this aircraft installed? Just some general opinion would be great. Thanks. Jas Jaseman. Lovin it up here........ August 28, 201213 yr You'll see a noticeable decline in FPS, however higher end computers can handle her very well. Your computer will do really well.
August 28, 201213 yr Having the aircraft installed wouldnt reduce the performance of the sim when youre not flying it (unless youre flying online and have configured your pilot client to use the PMDG NGX as the 3d model for traffic). However, you would get a pretty hefty decline in FPS with the NGX compared to default airplanes, and the RealAir Duke as well. The NGX is one of the worst performers in regards to FPS in my hangar, and I got a lot of bad performers!(Maddog, CS757, ConcX etc) vatsim s3

I dont own the Duke and haven't checked your specs, but I have a fairly old rig (C2D @ 3.85ghz, 2GB RAM, XP 32bit) and the NGX performs really well on my rig. As an example at hubs like FSDT's KDFW, KLAX, KLAS, KJFK, with 100% WOAI and AS2012 weather, I can maintain FPS around 25 FPS and is smooth. I've posted a bunch of screen shots highlighting the good performance I get with the NGX in those conditions with an older computer. The only other airliners I own are the LDS 767, PMDG 747 @ JS4100, CaptSim 727 & 757, and the only one that gets slightly better FPS is the LDS 767 but thats mostly due to it being a lower poly model. If you have a rig as good as mine or better then you should be able to get good performance out of it, although most airliners I have are a little more FPS demanding than the few G/A aircraft I own. The NGX also has a performance manager where you can adjust the guage refresh rates and do a few other things to cater it to the performance you wish to get. I'd highly recommend it if your interested in one of the best airliners ever developed for a desk top sim. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
August 28, 201213 yr Author Thanks to all who sent me some detail around the general performance of the NG. I really appreciate it. Think I'll get on line and purchase. Can't wait. Cheers. Jas DeadlyInertia, Great videos dude. I need to get TrackIR5 I think. Worth it? Jas Jaseman. Lovin it up here........ Catch us over at MassieSim32 -> https://discord.gg/B4buuHGhcr
August 28, 201213 yr "DeadlyInertia, Great videos dude. I need to get TrackIR5 I think. Worth it? Jas" Well, you didn't ask me, but let me answer: 'Yes sir!" I have bought the TrackIR5 about 2 months ago, and now i wouldn't want to play without. You can use the Tophat-switch on a joystick and that works too, but it is so natural to use your head for looking around ;-) You will really like it. It really adds to the immersion as well, it's simply great for flightsimming! Mark

With my rig+rexess+ Word Not Allowed's settings and 40% of mytraffic 5.4a, i got 12 fps approaching 31L yesterday on fsdt jfk. And 10.2 fps was the worst fps when taxing to the gate. i can have serious problem with my system since you can get more than 100% fps than me with 100% of non fsx optimized AI. Lucky you!!!! With nearly full graphics settings and with this high end system (I7 2600k 3.4ghz, 8GB of RAM and Radeon 6990 with 4GB of vram) if I go to Heathrow, Miami or other area with really much traffic with 100% traffic settings I have to lower traffic to like 25% to get decent performance.
