I have it too-will check the vsync setting when I get home.

The problem isn't related to vsync or any other NVIDIA driver setting (on my system).

It appears across almost all parts of the scenery: buildings, signs, trees. But once again: It's not too apparent.

It still looks like simple z-fighting to me, and on my system not that noticeable accept on the previously mentioned row-houses/buildings

I think the shimmering/flickering got worse with the latest RC.

Here a better video.

Anybody figure out whats up with the flickering ?

This is Ben respond " it's a design limitation of the zoom function. I have _not_ seen this when not zoomed in. You're seeing the sim run out of Z precision on zoom.

But you video don't seem to be zoomed in. You need to file a bug report, otherwise it will not get fixed. I stopped flying xp10 because of this annoying flickering.

I filed a bug a few days ago.

Ben responded with the following "This is aliasing - in HDR mode the nv control panel won't help...if you can run at 4x SSAA that will help, otherwise you'll have to wait until

we can find a better anti-aliasing algorithm that isn't as expensive as

4x ssaa."

The solution for me is to only turn HDR on for night simming, there no flickering at night.

FSX is to Cartoonish and buggy for me...

Yes, and although it had great impact in me. so was MS FLIGHT, now that I got used to X-Plane10 everything looks that way, both graphics and physics wise...

As one who once taught art, shade and color are important to me. The real world is a riot of subtle and not so subtle shades, but "serious" sims have always seemed to me to do poorly in reflecting that.

Honestly, from an artistic perspective I have always found xp to be particularly muted/drab. Because scenery is so important to me, I think that even with this current problem eventually resolved, other sims will remain competitive visually for quite some time to come.

Its strange though; I have been ignoring the flickering in XPX for a while now, but I never remembered until reading this thread that one of the major reasons I dropped XP9 was this very same issue.

It's very noticeable on my setup-and I have tried different settings including vsync to no avail.

I have decided to drop hdr for the time being and run with standard anti-aliasing. No shimmering for me now. However I kind of miss the hdr. Ah, well...
