September 2, 201213 yr http://cheezburger.com/6549760768  1bn for Samsung to pay!- Now that's as insane as it gets. And that from a company that has itself only copied stuff from BSD/Linux. Sure Samsung tried to copy some stuff as they're jerks. But honestly one billion for a company that has only obsolete and overpriced products. Where's the lunatic asylum? I've tested several phones before buying the Xperia X10 Mini pro and honestly I didn't remark the flip back nor the rounded corners. Still need to check my phone for the back flip which seems Samsung only. But hey I bought it because: - I could have bought 10 Xperia for the price of 1 Iphone - it's smaller and lighter - has more features So saying that I would have bought instead is insane. I simply don't have the money for such, sorry. I would have sticked to my 10 years old Sony/Ericsson. The whole indemnity is ridiculous to the max.

September 3, 201213 yr I think you will find that the case appears to have been a little flawed in that, worldwide this case (or cases similar in most respects) were thrown out and judged not to be valid, yet the jury in the courthouse "down the road" managed to find the overseas company guilty without fully reading the judges orders in a little less than 2 days. Every expert had anticipated at least a week if only to read, understand and digest the judges directions. And that's before working out damages! More importantly the jurors have given interviews and some of their comments have given Samsung's defence team more than enough ammo to keep this in the courts for many years to come. Who wins? Not the public that's for sure.
September 3, 201213 yr My dad and my brother once both owned a Samsung Behold II. This was a Android phone, and Android was still in its infancy. As Google moved on with more and more updates to the Android OS, Samsung promised, I mean promised (once again, they promised!) that Behold II customers would be able to get their hands on the Android 2.0 version via a Wi-Fi update (This was promised via a TV commercial announcing the phone). They lied. They said that 1.6 was the last version of Android that phone would ever get. This, of course, made mad many Behold II customers, including my dad and my brother. CNET says: Meanwhile, Behold II owners are quite upset, especially since Samsung promised an Android 2.x update in a promo video that has conveniently been taken down. Before Samsung released its official statement, some customers started a petition asking the company for either a refund, a replacement Android 2.x device, or the promised update, and if their needs weren't met, legal action would be taken. In that case, I could care less about what happens to Samsung. They can go broke in my case. They lie, and they don't care about their customers. It's all about the . i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
September 3, 201213 yr In that case, I could care less about what happens to Samsung I have always found it interesting how the English language has changed with the advent of the net. Should your comment rather be "I could NOT care less" (i.e. impossible to do so)? To me "could care less" means it is possible to do so or that you just are "so so" on the matter. They can go broke in my case. They lie, and they don't care about their customers. Good point .... as do so many companies nowadays - Apple included, most big business and a large percentage of small business. It's all about the $ . And apple is different?   A friend of mine had a paper published as part of his MBA (forgot the name of it) BUT it was basically entitled "Of course we are interested (until we disagree) / Of course we care (until we disagree) / Of course we want to hear your comments (until we disagree)" It was interesting reading and is often quoted. Love it or hate it, that is the way it is (for now). But I hope more of the younger generation learn to grow some balls and question the way things are heading rather than expecting a lot for nothing, otherwise it will get worse. Cheers DB

September 3, 201213 yr It is interesting reading the comments of people who don't know the whole history of Apple and what they have stole. It is MORE interesting reading the "fan-boyz" versus "fandroids" comments justifying their purchase decisions - much like the PMDG versus CaptSim fan-boyz   Everyone to their own. Cheers DB
September 3, 201213 yr I have always found it interesting how the English language has changed with the advent of the net. Should your comment rather be "I could NOT care less" (i.e. impossible to do so)? To me "could care less" means it is possible to do so or that you just are "so so" on the matter. Indeed. This is one of my 'favourite' errors. It tends to be more of a North American thing than a Brit thing - most Brits I know, including myself, still use 'I couldn't care less' - I don't know about Aussies and Kiwis though. This is an interesting site listing common errors in English: http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/errors.html#errors They discuss the awful 'could care less' error here: http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/care.html However, we should bear in mind that languages change. It may now be the case that in the USA 'I could care less' is now accepted to have the literal meaning of 'I couldn't care less' and is, thus, now correct in US English. My US family and I often joke about our two different languages and wonder how on earth we understand each other :-) Do not, however, get me started on the absolutely appalling and unforgivable 'could of/would of/should of' error. Any native speaker of English using those forms should simply be ashamed of themselves. Sorry for rambling on, it's a middle age thing. September 4, 201213 yr I don't know if I would be taking English lessons from anyone at Washington State University. Why not? As in 'I live in Europe and have no idea who these people are'. Are they a bunch of nutters? Creationists or something? Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
September 4, 201213 yr Gavin Thanks for the link and it was very interesting reading. There are some great comments within that site and it shows how the English language is being eroded over time (often through ignorance or just pure laziness). My biggest pet gripe are those New Zealand companies that may send out written information using MS Word, and they have not bothered to change the language to NZ English! Nothing worse than receiving a proposal in US language (apart from knowing that they have not checked it and picked up the obvious errors). But trust me, us Kiwis also have some very strange sayings.  I see Apple are now trying to stop sales of the Samsung Galaxy S3. Nothing like a billion dollar boost to your confidence to take on the world. Imagine if Apple had invented the motor car.
September 4, 201213 yr Why not? As in 'I live in Europe and have no idea who these people are'. Are they a bunch of nutters? Creationists or something? Just a joke from someone born on the other side of Washington State. No problem with it at all. Chris Miller
