September 5, 201213 yr Almost captain. I have my checkride tomorrow :Hypnotized: My friend flies A330's out of the islands and he said it was an interesting transition going from the Beech 1900 to a fly by wire system. He said his first landing was funny because usually as the speed bleeds off in the 1900 the nose drops nicely where as the 330 it hangs up in the air and you have to push it on to the runway. Oh my, good luck, I'll be thinking of you. I'm sure you'll do great... Indeed that is quite a step from 1900's to the A330, though personally I think the A330 flies like a dream, it's taxiing the blasted thing is where the problems arise, well that being said, taxiing the -200 is okay (barely), the -300 has caused me more than a few headaches, we've now got a special taxi training scenario set up in the sim just for me... :Rolling Eyes: Even with that though I still havn't stopped having accidents... :Rolling Eyes: Some day, some day.... Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.

I am hoping that in 20 hours time I will be holding my new ATP license with ATR 72 type  Chris Miller

I am hoping that in 20 hours time I will be holding my new ATP license with ATR 72 type  I'm sure you'll do fine no better man for the job, be sure to let us know how you get on. Indeed caution is the key to taxiing passenger aircraft, don't make the mistakes of others and go hell for leather around the airport until you're fully comfortable with the location of the NLG and MLG with reference to you, very easy to get a reputation in the crew room... :Straight Face: Regards, Ró. September 5, 201213 yr Author Boy am I glad I started this thread. I'm getting an education here. Thanks to everyone for the tips and info...........very much appreciated. On a humorous note when I did my horticultural training we used to operate old Massey Ferguson 135 tractor for crop spraying. A full tank of spray at the back caused the tractor to nose up and we learned to steer it with differential braking until the weight balanced out. Very crude but effective........like the ATR and best of luck with the checkride @cessnaflyer. Anthony O'Brien

Get some time on a Socata Rallye aka "Tin Prachute". It has a very unforgiving castoring nose wheel. A few hours with that and you'll be a wiz down the shopping aisles! It's Friday and an extra excuse for raising a glass is always welcome. Best regards, D All went well! We went out for a nice dinner last night and made sure to have our filling of wine! I also got to sleep in for the first time in 3 weeks and I just woke up at noon! Here is me and my sim partner the day before the checkride: The best piece of paper I own! Chris Miller

Thanks again! This has to be the best feeling in the world for now, until 7 more months for the baby! I just realized how many things are wrong in that picture for where it was taken. It was only two days ago and I barely remember what was going on  Chris Miller
September 7, 201213 yr Thanks again! This has to be the best feeling in the world for now, until 7 more months for the baby! Then you'll have a new favourite piece of paper... ^_^ I just realized how many things are wrong in that picture for where it was taken. It was only two days ago and I barely remember what was going on  You're improving already I'll take from that statement then? ^_^ Enjoy it anyway, getting your upgrade is one of the most rewarding experiences in this career, right after your first solo and your first paying job. Regards, Ró. Rónán O Cadhain.
September 7, 201213 yr Then you'll have a new favourite piece of paper... It will be taking all my paper money! You're improving already 'll take from that statement then? My best guess was we had a quick V1 cut and then positioned to the end of the runway for what I think was a flat tire, during the roll. Chris Miller
