9/11, 11th Anniversary.

I could start a St. Stephens day topic if you like to remember the tSunami victims? But not many of us were effected by that. People post topics for rememberance day, independence day, thanks giving day, Christmas day, New years day and other big events that we still keep in mind every year. The world hasn't forgotten about them, their memories just aren't as raw as 9/11. I totally understand your point though, I just think that 9/11 really stands out as it effected so many of us, where as we weren't really as effected by WWII, the tsunami, Earthquakes here and there, African Genocides ect, we were effected by this... Like I said in the first post, the "Where were you when moment of our generation". The news reels and images that day meant we all lived through the event as it unfolded before our eyes, we bore witness to the death of 3000 people, that was not the case with WWII or the likes...

Regards,

Ró.

I will reiterate what Ró is saying right here as a reminder, the USA is only 4.4 percent of the world population, and the USA has never done anything in the history of the world without any kind of Ally support. Never let that get to anyone's head as USA can never accomplish anything without friends.

This includes every conflict since 911, it wouldn't have happened without allies, and even before 911 as well.

Put it this way. Since World War 2, there are only really 2 nations that can claim a victory. Vietnam has won there independence since WW2 and are now a free nation, and the British can claim a victory on reclaiming the Falkland Islands....

Since WW2 all other conflicts are questionable, and expensive.

Also WW2 was an allied victory so don't let Steven Spielberg's films convince you otherwise. Many nations were at war and not just the USA. Saving Private Ryan is a joke.

Good point on the allies, or, sometimes, just the enemy of the own enemy, Matthew.

Saving Private Ryan is a joke.

Lets not forget, Spielberg also did Schindler's List, which I think is a very good movie.

Even he said he bought the rights for that 10 years before he made it....and was thankful for not doing it right away, because he said it would have been more like Indiana Jones meets the Holocaust.

He did take the time to do it in his way, I will admit I haven't seen it since it was first released in the theatres. but I will say that I gained more from reading about WW2 before that film. When I walked out of that film, it just didn't seem right to me. Mostly because he was profiting from it in one way or another. I continue to study WW2 as I always have.

If anyone takes that Schindler's List film as historical fact then you need to do a lot more research.

Certainly more accurate than Jurassic Park.

Lets just say that it sometimes needs some of those 'Flip Flops' to actually make it to the cinema with a different setup than Transformers.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. That's what I do.

It's just ENTERTAINMENT is all....this is one of the best things I have ever seen. See if you can watch it from begining to end and just get it is all:

Don't get me wrong, I have the outmost respect for war and sacrifice, just saying in my family tree more of that sacrifice was in armies outside of the USA.

So this is why films like Saving Private Ryan are insulting to the rest of the world when the USA is only 4.4% of the world population.

Also the film industry profited off of this film anyways as well as insulting the rest of the global conflict in WW2

I wish we still had that "+1" thing for comments like that... ^_^

Me too, where did that feature go?

Here's a small list of posts I would have +1'nd since the feature is gone.

Matthew, are you questioning that stereotype Hollywood picture? I think that would be worth another thread. Just remember, Aliens always start in New York. No, always!

To be read with :P , please.

Looks like we'll just need to "Love your Post" everyone anymore...

'Mark all forums as +1' feature request! ^_^

Tom just posted a survey on Avsim features, but didn't include what we thought of the +1 feature, would be nice to know what the community thought of it, I sure liked it.... In fairness, I think I'm guilty of being a little trigger happy on the +1 button...

no need to question Hollywood on here as I can just pay a visit to my Neighbour Kim Schmitz and have a beer with him and talk about it instead (New Zealand is that small). :LMAO:

But I wouldn't do that because I still think he is a goof

As long as one can only 'thumb up', I like it too. Seeing some other forums with the thumb down feature, it sometimes seemed crazy, weird, ridiculous. Depends on the case of course. The really negative stuff gets reported either way, I guess. Edited. I've just voted in Tom's poll. True, the '+1' feedback feature is missing. Lol, I've reversed my numbers! Lets see if I can fix that.

Good point on movies. Isn't he even planning something on his case? Well, it's not over yet (or is it?).

Lets just hope they find something fitting the part of the main character. :He He:

By the way, we are terribly guilty of spoiling the topic, guys. :(
