September 12, 201213 yr I have Suppression Flight's "Ultimate Live Effects" and, although I like most of the effects, the one that puts rain on the windscreen is one I can definitely do without. The raindrops seriously obscure outside vision, are there at all speeds and windshield wipers have no effect on them. I've gone through all of the effects and texture files that I've been able to find that were installed by Suppression Flight but have had no luck finding which one(s) are creating this 'raindrop' effect. Can anyone help me with this? Alternatively, if someone knows how to reach Suppression Flight that would be great. Unfortunately, I can't find a website and their documentation does not include any contact information.
September 12, 201213 yr Moderator You could do a repair install of FSX - hopefully it will correct the file. Another possible alternative - can you create a phony FSX folder - then reinstall the effects - you might be able to find out what filename and where it went. September 12, 201213 yr VCrain effects in the effects folder. When you install FSx clean. Copy the whole FSX foldet to another drive, then you will have a clean backup for such times. FSX doesnt by default use the rain effects, but if you have FS9 you can simply copy the files into FSX and they will work on planes that support them

Good luck, Vic I tried the 'fake fSX folder' strategy, but no luck. I've even gone so far as to re-name all of the 'suspect' effects files installed by Suppression Flight (so they can't be called) but those darn raindrops won't go away. Looks like a FSX repair job might be in my future...
September 13, 201213 yr It's a pitty this doesn't work. I'm really missing the rain on the VC cockpit window that FS9 was offering. Isn't there some utility out there that can bring this effect into FSX? That would be really cool. Jos
September 13, 201213 yr Hi Beep, the rain effects have to be incorporated into the model, otherwise they dont work, some FSX planes do use them but MS changed the VCrain textures so you wont see them. If you have FS9 you can simply copy those textures to FSX or you can do a search for the fix. Again it wont work on moddles that dont support it.
September 13, 201213 yr Let me just say i have just bought this . Now am thinking twice before installing it . I bought this because of the cool VC rain effect . I have only saw this effect when running Real Air Turbin Duke in the VC mode . I have never saw this effect on other payware like pmdg ngx or captain sim products. So hey base on the OP question about windshield wiper not clearing the view for this effect i would like to know if there any fix for that or is it worth to install ? What do i need to back up just in case i get the same problem? September 14, 201213 yr Author I 'think' all you need to back up is your Effects folder, but considering my experience I may be wrong. In any case, if you do an install to a 'fake' FSX folder the only things that seem to be added are files in the Effects and Effects/Textures folders.
August 31, 201411 yr I f i move the fs9 vc rain effects to the fsx PMDG effects vc effects , does it work ?
September 1, 201411 yr Moderator Sigh. The "vc rain" will not be found in the ..\Effects folder at all... They are in the sim's ..\Texture folder.
