September 15, 201213 yr Just updated my mobo/ram/gpu/cpu. Still trying to get things stable. I am experiencing some CTDs in Orbx PNW. I didn't reinstall windows or FSX; rather, I upgraded parts and tried to follow Word Not Allowed's guide. September 15, 201213 yr If you are getting a BSOD then it's probably not your FSX.cfg that's the problem. What are your memory specs and rated voltage?
September 15, 201213 yr Author Memory is this. http://www.patriotmemory.com/product/detail.jsp?prodline=5&catid=34&prodgroupid=194&id=1167 Lowered the OC to 4.5 and it seems stable now. However, I'm getting a continuous gdiplus.dll CTD within 5 minutes of booting up at Seattle. Anthony Cacciatore
September 15, 201213 yr Ok, yeah if you are using the XMP profile or using stock settings for memory it should be fine. I still don't think your CPU is truly stable though. And until we actually know for sure that it is I wouldn't even bother opening FSX. I think some stability testing is in order to be sure.
September 15, 201213 yr Its pointless anyone doing this as your machine will be different to every one elses. Down load prime95 and see if any core crash. When that is stable than start fiddling with FSX. Do lots of reading there is a lot of varying understanding on some of them.
September 15, 201213 yr Sorry to hear you are having issues with FTX/Orbx scenery. What were the faulting modules for the CTD's? If it was the infamous g3d.dll that occurs mainly in FTX/Orbx scenery areas, then that was fixed by the developer of FSUIPC.dll and you need to install the latest version of that module. If the crash is related to the ai_player.dll then I wouldn't worry about it too much as the crash only occurs when you shutdown FSX and it only occurs if you have FTX/Orbx scenery enabled in FTX Central. If you turn on the default, that crash will go away. If you do a search on the FTX/Orbx site for ai_player.dll, you'll find solutions to this problem (none worked for me). For gdiplus ctd's, maybe the following link will help fix this issue - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/gdiplus-dll-not-found-missing-error.htm. September 15, 201213 yr I highly recommend that you delete your FSX.CFG, start fresh and go read Word Not Allowed's Hardware and Software Guide. - I know that this probably looks like spam but trust me, he revived FSX for most of us in the community.
September 15, 201213 yr Author I ran Prime95 for four hours without any failed tests and temps below 80 so the clock should be stable. I have the current and registered version of fsuipc. Still can't seem to isolate the problem. I verified that the .nets were correctly installed and I re-ran 2005, 2008, and 2010 vcredist files. - Edit - I bumped up my vcore to 1.3 and now everything seems great. Thanks all for the input. Anthony Cacciatore
September 16, 201213 yr I'm glad this was resolved without taking extreme measures against your FSX install.
