  1. Jim, my affiliation with Imaginesim is strictly as an afcad contractor. I don't have any control over their distribution of press copies, so I can't speak to that. I agree that a forum would be great, but it seems that they're providing improved tech support via facebook, for what it's worth.
  2. I feel the need to point this out as another Avsim thread raised an important issue about blogger/reviewer compensation that deserves a larger audience because most consumers, marketers, and bloggers are sometimes ignorant of U.S. federal law and regulation. I happen to be a compensated developer, but my main occupation is practicing in this area of law, so I thought it would be helpful to post this simple PSA. The U.S. FTC has interpreted the Fair Trade Act to require that bloggers must disclose when they receive compensation, including free copies, for a product review. Violations can result in up to a $16,000 penalty per post, depending on many factors such as the offensiveness of the copy; both marketers and reviewers are subject to enforcement. Consumers may also be able to sue individually or as part of a larger class action. Here is a snippet from the linked FTC guidance: I am not making any conclusion about anyone on Avsim or other flightsim sites, developers or commercial publishers. I merely want to point out something that is often misunderstood. Please also do not consider this to be legal advice, as I do not intend this post or any response to form an attorney-client relationship. Speak with a licensed attorney to assess if, whether and how you should disclose. Compliance can be simple; make the appropriate disclosures and everybody benefits.
  3. Looks like they'll pay you to buy the A319/A318.
  4. Can anyone confirm if this can be tweaked to work in P3D v3?
  5. Rabble rabble rabble !lawyers! rabble rabble rabble I would hazard a guess that it has more to do with protecting their trademarks and intellectual property, among other justifiable reasons.
  6. Hi all, I'm considering a build that will upgrade my screens from a single 24" to three monitors. My current card is a GTX680. I'd rather not upgrade my card now if it can be avoided (6 months +). What size screen should I select if I plan to sit 24" from the monitors? Can I still run FSX in fullscreen? Are there any adverse effects to three monitors? Thanks!
  7. How about Green Bay (shameless self-promotion)? LINK
  8. If it works with GA, I hope it takes a loooong time for certain aircraft. Anyone who has ever pushed a Cirrus back into a crowded hanger using a tractor + bar knows just how annoying that castering nose wheel can be!
  9. Aerosoft News still hasn't published anything on the topic for days now... Maybe they are under an NDA, working in partnership, or lost on a bid.
  10. Maybe some rich flightsimmer passed and his estate purchased the franchse in trust for the community. </dreaming>
  11. I was kinda wondering why aerosoft news hadn't covered the leak...
  12. This was sarcasm, right? Because I know a guy who knows a guy who heard of a guy who had a beer with a gal who ate at a restaurant one time and met a chef who thinks it is sarcasm.
  13. For the latter, load the default C-172 first and then the 767. I said goodbye [for now] during CTP on a full ENGM-KMEM flight. Felt like the right thing to do; like taking your car out for one last drive.
  14. I haven't heard anything yet.
  15. I'm almost an attorney (pending bar) and just wanted to add that I think A2A's licensing is more than generous. Please take this with a grain of salt (caveat) but if I were representing the next-of-kin of someone who died in a C-172 crash when the pilot was known to use P3D and own the product that can be licensed professionally, you can bet your butt I'm at least going to serve a discovery request. That said, I'm greener than spring grass so don't rely on that as gospel. It occurred to me that new EULAs and pricing schemes aren't necessarily bad. Rather, I think they indicate a maturing of our hobby from strictly game entertainment to potentially accurate and believable enough to be considered suitable for training. How cool is that!?
  16. Will yall let me know when you see an indication that the fourth runway is open? I believe they are still testing something but I know the concrete and paint are complete. As soon as it opens I'll release an update [excluding the month of July, when I'm unavailable].
  17. Hi Kevin, the cargo parking is arranged for what I could find data for (DHL/GTI/PAC/UPS/FDX/CKK) and then randomized for the west general cargo ramp for those who apron are not exactly known. I used the wikipedia page for Pudong to pull airline and cargo data, as well as various spotting website. You can actually sort it by terminal in wikipedia, which makes assignment easier. The airlines are sorted by proper terminal, but getting exact gate information is harder and from what I can tell changes depending on daily operational needs as per the international airlines.
  18. Actually, I think it is good news. While the transition may be slow for a number of companies, at least we have a light at the end of the tunnel.
  19. Which traffic program are you using? Some have different contact points that influence where the ai model calculates its stop point.
  20. You can solve a lot of AI impact issues if you concentrate on only displaying aircraft that are relevant to your flight. Take a look at this freeware program by Roland Foster. LINK
  21. I've passed your comments onto the main developer. I can't do much as it's a 3d model and not an ai or afcad issue, sorry. Try using the updated afcad posted HERE. I moved some of the parking positions around T1 and T2 so this should help your alignment issues some. See above comment.
  22. THIS. I've been trying to hack FSX to find a way to defeat this variable but MS has locked it. I asked Lockheed to change it when they were soliciting for input but haven't heard any updates. I would like to see wind dependent crosswind operations rather than making more false crosswind runways. I don't know if AISidStar can accomplish this, though, but I'll continue hoping.
  23. Um, yeah? Mir is doing some great work and continues to impress. I don't know what that has to do with ZSPD, though.
  24. Here's an update on ZSPD RW Ops. I noticed that they're closing some of the runways in the late evening hours. I would presume that this is because of construction and equipment testing on the soon to open 34R/16L. Those closings are from 0100-0700 local, GMT listed below. F1697/14 RWY17R/35L CLSD WITH MARKINGS. ACFT SHALL CROSS RWY17R/35L VIA TWY P1 OR TWY P4 ONLY. 04 MAY 17:00 2014 UNTIL 04 MAY 23:00 2014.______________F1704/14 RWY16/34 CLSD WITH MARKINGS. 05 MAY 17:00 2014 UNTIL 05 MAY 23:00 2014._____________ F1706/14 RWY17L/35R CLSD WITH MARKINGS.
