You want a VC...?!?

Here is RC2, the first "full" (plane+source files) release.

Some fixes and enhancements (see bottom of the readme).

An installation from scratch (i.e. delete "Aircraft\Boeing 737-200" and start anew, as specified in the readme) is recommended! Also, re-reading the readme might yield new information.

(The link to RC1 is obsolete.)

Bjoern, you magnificent fs god! I love this! How you find the time to pull this VC off, I'll never know, but I'm SOOOOOOOOOO thankful.   Hats off to you, bro!

  • Here is RC3. As usual, a full reinstallation and reading the readme (if only the changelog) is recommended.   http://www.mediafire.com/?3omebl30gf3ho6b       (The SDK will be uploaded tomorrow.)

Thank you!

downloading RC2 and proceeding to dabble in it

wow... finally some freeware from the west. I wish you good luck creating the virtual cockpit for the 737-200.

a suggestion would be to find photorealistic textures for vc, and creating 3d gauges, however since this is freeware all this is not necessary )

good luck with project!

regards

C'mon, there's been a lot of excellent freeware from the west  and from everywhere else too. That's the good thing about FS - everybody can be into it and we have great stuff coming in from all over the world!

After a brief look - the VC textures included in RC2, I think are pretty good, will try to find some photorealistic material.

I don't think 3D gauges are going to be possible at all - the VC uses all the original gauges from the TinMouse 2D panel. It may not be possible to adapt and create new 3D gauges and have them work with the rest of the material properly, even if possible it would be very tricky to implement. Anyway, the original TinMouse 2D gauges are really good!

haha... it was mean't like a joke as I always fly Russian freeware planes :D For sure there's some really great freeware from the west, including TinMouse and the author of this VC. Also there is Project Airbus and some scenery developers. I don't know that many as I always fly in Russia.

Good news about the photorealistic panels though! And for the VC the gauges doesn't matter that much anyway, what I mean't was 3d buttons like 3d overhead. Vitamin Tu-154 doesn't have 3d gauges and still it's awesome!

I second that, i really dont understand vc quality frenzy in many planes. For VC i only look for usefulness, not unnecessary stuff like 3D overhead buttuns etc. Also me too ,as a Tupolev pilot, enthusiasticly wait for this.

I hate photoreal textures.

You never find them in the quality and lighting conditions you need, they're distorted and I don't want to spend money and time on a museum and begging for cockpit access (finding a 732 in Germany is quite hard to boot).

If someone wants to replace my textures with photoreal ones, I have no objections at all.

Having a common style (hand-painted) all across the model is much more preferable to me though.

I could add 3D switches for the lights, since they mostly work with the default FS9 eventIDs and simulation variables, but it would look incredibly stupid as the overhead would still have flat 2D buttons.

Unless future versions of the TM2 gauges allow bridging between the XML variables used in the model file and the C++ variables used in the gauge file itself, there won't be any 3D gauges on the overhead and radio panels.

The VC will have a bit of specularity in RC3 to add a bit of highlights, btw.

Bjoern, there's no need to worry about such things. Your plane is excellent eitherway, I was just making a suggestion. Access to the real aircraft is what hinders me as well from creating photorealistic virtual cabins... As well as some exterior textures. So I understand what you mean.

And shc_04, congratulations on being a Tupolev pilot, I assume you work/worked for a Russian airline since they're getting retired, in case you mean real world pilot?

I'm a bit itchy about these things. See below.

What some people do not understand, is that with more 3D comes less flexibility.

Production numbers and service life makes 737s, Tupolevs and other aircraft come in billions of configuration variations.

Having a 3D gauge makes, e.g. changing the ADI from a mechanical to a digital one simply impossible.

Same with photoreal textures. Editing them is much, much tougher than nicely layered hand-painted ones.

Bjoern, do you create to whole textures by yourself? All of them are gonna be hand made?

Hi guys. I am a newbie in flight simulator and in this page, however as I can see in this forum, in order to improve the visuals for this model you need some real pictures. I flight this aircraft in real world . If you need some pictures, please let me know waht pictures you need and how they shuold be taken (dark, at an angle, straight pointing to the panels....). I will be more than glad to help.

And shc_04, congratulations on being a Tupolev pilot, I assume you work/worked for a Russian airline since they're getting retired, in case you mean real world pilot?

I wish. I am a Tupolev pilot but sadly just a virtual one. By saying as a Tupolev pilot i meant to compare tinmouse and Project Tupolev 154.

I see, it's the same here as I never flew as captain in a real Tupolev... Russia now is replacing all their own built aircraft with western fleet, even scrapping the last examples they have of Soviet classic aircraft. After the fall of communism Russia has gotten crazy. (The drug problem is far worse).

I believe the Tinmouse 737 and Project Tupolev 154 are both very complex products, but a soviet trijet and a western twinjet can't be really compared as they're really different. Since you fly them both I think you know what I mean.

What keeps me using the Tu-154M is the fact that it's used as a training tool for realworld Tu-154 pilots. And it's one of the only addons certified as training tool.

The freeware Tupolev 154 looks great. Unfortunatly, the panel is in Russian, I dont speak Russian (or read) so I cant fly it. I hope that someday, someone will create an English version for it.

There is no need to worry about it being in Russian, the english manual will help you. And there is mouseovers which will explain what this and this button does. Many non-western users use it and they know which switch does what (by remembering their locations and such).

Even the real world Tupolev Tu-154B-2, IL-62 and such aircraft at Air Koryo, are still in Russian...
