Anyone use a gamepad for flight sims? (keyboard gamepad)

Featured Replies

I guess I'm more casual when it comes to my flight sim and as such I use a gamepad. Thing is they only have like 10-12 buttons and you have to reach for the keyboard ALL the time.

But behold, what about this?

Anyone ever use one of these? Seems like it'd be perfect for the couch type pilot.

so many buttons :O does it also make coffee

Probably.

But if you need buttons, I would recommend Logitech G13. Highly customizable and assignable.

Coffee...maybe.

But will it blend?

The only issues I have come across with this type of set up is no hat view switch and keeping a constant speed. IMHO its not very good...... -_-

I would prefer a bunch of keys in array, say: 3x3 5x2 7x4. I would assign LSK keys of an FMC, some MCP buttons (N1, FLCH, VNAV, .. you name it), MCP u/p down knobs as 2 buttons, and some other functions. I could do the same with a Laptop, FSUIPC, WideServer and some fsuipc script programming, but I need something symmetrical.

That Logitech G13 looks pretty fancy. Does anyone know if it's possible to use a PS3 controller or a similar type gamepad to use strictly for EZDOK camera positions? I'm quickly running out of buttons on my joystick and Saitek throttle quadrant and would like to have something dedicated to swapping camera views without using the keyboard. Even a mini USB keypad might be an option. Suggestions anyone to make EZDOK really easy?
