September 26, 201213 yr maybe you can try installing your Vegas scenery into Prepar3d(if you own a copy) and see if you get the same problem. FSX is pretty old now, 2013 is around the corner and Prepar3d is a big improvement over FSX.
September 26, 201213 yr Hello; Try moving the Las Vegas scenery higher than the FSDT Klas airpor(or lower)t,I had this exact problem before. Mark Mark
September 26, 201213 yr On topic though: I just checked the VegasX promo video, and from UP CLOSE, the city looks amazing. Not nearly like your posted shots.
September 26, 201213 yr Before doing anything, I would recommend going into the scenery library, and disabling the two Vegas sceneries one at a time to see if the issue is fixed by one or the other, to determine where the problem lies. If these two products were created by different organizations, they may well not be compatible.
September 26, 201213 yr I got Las Vegas myself, and I must admit, that some of the textures are indeed poor. This doesn't seem to be related to my computer, nor to FSX as I've just read the Avsim review and that problem's mentioned there, too, and I also remember having read about this issue in various flight sim magazines. However, I don't really mind the blurry textures, because I have it mainly for the atmosphere, and a more complete view when arriving at McCarran, than for flying choppers thruogh the streets of Vegas. And, btw, I got FSDT KLAS, US Cities Las Vegas, and Blue Sky Scenery for the Las Vegas Area running on my computer, and I don't remember having any incompatibility issues! Regards, Flo Florian
September 26, 201213 yr Hello; I've enclosed an image of the order, which I have the 2 sceneries installed.Oh yea, read the Aerosoft manual that comes with the Las Vegas scenery,it gives you some tips,on how to correct several other issues. September 26, 201213 yr Commercial Member Your not crazy Brad, what you are seeing is how they designed Las Vegas X. I think they applied some Google Sketchup type work on it. The advantage is you see a lot more distinct type buildings in an area but the downside, as you have noticed, is the building textures only look good a a distance. And because of this type of modeling they have no night textures... also a no-no in my book. They should have done the main hotels on the strip in detail and left the surrounding areas as they are because as you know the whole reason most like Vegas is to see the unique hotel designs and to see them at night. I picked it up mainly for all the additional buildings surrounding the strip. I am deleting the main hotels and creating new ones through various means. I use Vegas as my "test area" to try different things. Mis-match on the elevations is a mesh conflict. By changing the priorities of the add-ons you can sometimes move out the "cliffs and valleys" further away from the strip but not completely remove them. I was creating my own mesh to smooth out those areas but haven't gotten back to it for some time. Funny, was dissappointed with Vegas X but I have really liked the new UScities X - Los Angeles which applies the same technique. But I know what to expect this time around. I think if they went back an used detail textures for a dozen or so hotels and added night textures to them they would not get as bad a review as what they now get. September 26, 201213 yr And because of this type of modeling they have no night textures. Generally speaking, you're right, Clutch: The US Cities series doesn't have night textures, but as you said yourself, Vegas is special at night, and thus they have added night textures to the buildings. I don't know about the quality though, because as I stated above, I only us it, because it looks better than default Las Vegas. Regards, Flo Florian
September 26, 201213 yr Commercial Member Flo, they added night textures? I was not aware of this. Did they have an update/upgrade? September 26, 201213 yr Did they have an update/upgrade? From what I've read, there should've been an update, but when I bought it, it already came with night lighting. Just do a search over at Aerosoft, I suggest. Just googled it, it seems you have to re-download the whole installer, from what I've read. Florian
September 26, 201213 yr Author So basically here are some shots not really showing what i am getting at in terms of the issue with objects still looking ridged and lacking full AA...but i will also post up my Nvidia Inspector settings too... September 26, 201213 yr Bradley, these shots are so miniature, I can barely recognize anything. Before we start into anything, I would like to ask you to follow my guide to FSX tweaking and report your finds after you have gone through it. I think it will solve many of your problems. Do not omit any of the steps. http://#####...hardware-guide/ And: DO NOT run unlimited frames, DO NOT set Airline: 95% and GA: 50%... roads, ships and boats also KILL the frames. I recommend turning it off, no matter how good it looks. Also, there is something wrong with your NI. I would suggest you do a profile reset and then set it according to my guide, setting by setting in NI, nowhere else. Also set FSX settings to how I have them (except those AI settings, they are your thing). It all has it's reasons.
October 28, 201213 yr Author Evening people, Okay, been away for a little while and now back on the computer. Just a question regarding the BP tweak...i cant see that in the FSX.CFG...do i add it in? Brad - P3Dv4.5 AIG Moderator | Afcad Editor | FAIB Beta | FSPX Beta
October 28, 201213 yr Did you go through my guide? I can tell you one thing: go through it, and you'll see wonders.
October 28, 201213 yr Author Yes, i was going through it this evening but there are parts on the guide that i cant see in the FSX.CFG...Bufferpool, Affinitymask, HIGHMEMFIX=1.... Brad - P3Dv4.5 AIG Moderator | Afcad Editor | FAIB Beta | FSPX Beta
