Hi Word Not Allowed, okay so after some time of being away from FSX, with work etc or installing AIG AI Flightplans i was able to do a good few hours of flying from UK2K Gatwick to AS Ibiza, with AES turnaround and fly back to UK2K Manchester using the QW757 and Orbx England. NO PROBLEMS at all. Very pleased with how FSX was running. TODAY i tried to load up in AS Helsinki (v1.20) and had a hard crash which i could only get out of be rebooting....still not sure why im getting this on occasion. Ive currently still been unable to get any further than 30 seconds into moving forward in Helsinki with default or payware aircraft before it hard crashes again. There is a freeware program, VEGAS_XG, that is really excellent. It doesn't contain any photo real textures, and while it doesn't go out as far as Vegas X it's really, well, excellent. Not sure if it's in the AVSIM Library. If not, Google is your friend. If you still can't find it, let me know.

 

Anyway, it's worth a try.

Ah yes i see that too now, i really dont know why that is...I have the Nvidia 670 GTX card, which is setup with your settings via Inspector. The Monitor i use is a HP 2011x single screen, i have no idea why display is listed twice...but i have been looking at FSX during "sim play" and it just looks like its missing that extra kick in smoothed edges on objects...its quite strange

EDIT: Indeed Jim. Those settings are quite high and will bring any system down. Not the reason quite for crashes IMO, only maybe for low framerate...

 

I agree, it will not cause a CTD alone but Bradley has posted a StackHash CTD up in the CTD forum too that he says occurs frequently. I never said anything about it causing a crash in my post above.

Okay, so ive just about had it up to here with the Hard-crashes in FSX, i just brought FT Montreal and my FSX froze seconds into sim play and i had to hard reset my PC. Twice it did this...obviously this is happening in various locations around the globe, i know this isnt scenery error related...its prob either to do with settings or even sound i was told???

 

I havent got my original FSX.CFG (the untouched original version), so i cant even revert back to basics and start to look at settings again. My AI traffic (AIG custom type) is set at 85%, cars at 25%, GA aircraft at 40% and everything else at 15%. I use REX Essential/Overdrive and Flight1 Ground and Flight Enviroment X too. I have Orbx England (which is due a very important bug/error fix for numerous pot holes and scenery clashes with UK2000 airports which i own 8.

 

I really would be grateful if you could give me or suggest or even send a CFG for FSX that would suit my FSX....

 

I was very unsatisfied with the AA lack of smoothing in FSX, even using the Nvidia Inspector settings and FSX settings. I decided to select FSXs own AA option and this greatly improved and enhanced smoothing on objects close and distant.

Ok tried the new FSX.cfg, seems to have created a new one, had to set all the settings within the FSX interface back to what they were before, traffic and GA is still off at the moment...loaded up FSX and the frames were quite shocking...strange! AFAIK, the resolution in fsx should match your monitor default resolution if possible.

So ive let FSX create a new CFG, then ran through the Word Not Allowed tweaks etc and added the sections not included in the FSX.cfg already, and i am still getting the hard freezing, its not everytime but it seems to happen enough still to be annoying.

 

I did not add "VSYNC TWEAK – FULL SCREEN" because im not 100% sure on what i need to check in order to add this bit into the CFG, tho i run the sim in fullscreen mode always, occasionally maybe switching to the desktop "minimizing FSX briefly" and then switching back.

 

One other thing is AI traffic textures, planes are white at a fair distance. Get closer and they appear but this didnt use to happen.
