Confused About REX Essential - and REX Overdrive

Featured Replies

With the recent announcement of REX Essential Plus, I have become totally confused about this product. I own REX Overdrive v2.5 HD.

Some time ago I was one of many who logged into their site and provided my purchase order number. Based upon what I thought I was reading, I was going to be able to get an upgrade to REX Essentials. I also thought we were to be notified about this upgrade.

REX Essentials has been out for a while now, recently they have done some fixes and called it REX Essentials Plus.

Do I have to buy REX Essentials to get the new product? Is there no upgrade from REX Overdrive HD?

What is the difference between REX Essentials and REX Overdrive HD? What more would I or do I get if I have Essentials?

cheers Bryan

I don't get it.

I have Rex V2 overdrive installed. I don't mind paying for the new package Rex essential plus with overdrive but do I need to uninstall Rex V2 first to install the new essentials plus overdrive package?

Hi Gerry, you don't need to purchase it at all. Simply advise me of your VERSION NUMBER listed on the ABOUT page inside of REX and I will direct you to the FREE download :)

Hi Gerry, sorry, been in meetings all day.

Are you registered in our forum located here? http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/

If not registered there, please do so, then advise me of your user name and where REX was purchased with order #45339. I will verify your account on the forum where you will have access to all updates for our products. I will point you to the specific link you are requiring so you don't have to go through the hassle.

Thank you in advance.

I too am now reentering the FSX community after laying low for approx. 2 years.  I purchased REX when it first came out and would like to reinstall it on a new PC with a fresh install of FSX.  How can I get the latest version of REX or should I just purchase it?

Thanks a lot,

Howard Bloom

The best thing you can do is to download the latest installer from the site you initially bought the addon from (if you bought a downloadable version). I bought the very first version at www.flightsimstore.com and when I login to that site and look at my downloads, the available download is the latest version of REX Essentials Plus (and not the old version I initially bought)! That will save you a lot of time figuring out which updates you need to get your old version up to the newest one! If you don't have access to a shop where you can login to to get the latest version, visit the REX forum and have a look at all the updates there are. One way or another you should be able to make your old version the newest one. But again, the easiest way to get things done is to download the latest version and install that one.

Overdrive is a seperate download and for that one you should visit the REX forum.

REX is quite a generous company and afaik everyone who has ever bought any version of REX should be able to upgrade it to the latest greatest version without having to use a credit card again!

Tim,

Sorry my post from a few days ago seems to have vanished. My user name on the forums is engwerda 31300. Do you need the serial number as well? From memory I bought it from REX on line via the website and it came in a white USB with versions for FSX and FS 2004.

best wishes,

Tim,

I can't logon. I used the forums user name and password and even requested a new one but no luck.

I actually bought a full new copy of Esentials plus with over drive from PC Aviator and as they suggested I uninstalled the old version. I then loaded up the installation disc having bought the DVD master. I bought the disc version rather than go through the very large download as I felt you deserved the money anyway.

The installation gets to 85% or thereabouts and then asks for disc 2 and no matter what disc I put in it refuses to go any further, Any ideas? I have emailed Dean there and hopefully he will be able sort this out but in the meantime I cannot log on to my account with you. I thought I might download it otherwise as I have bought both the download and the disc version.
