Well... the ONE feature that I'd love for FS2006

Featured Replies

I've seen feature request threads that beckon Microsoft to do everything from include Santa Claus AI to include photorealistic scenery for the whole world and make it run on a 700MHz system... but I'll tell you what, without realizing the immensity of my request, I'd love to see, if they didn't get to anything else, a focus placed on the refresh rates of these gauges, especially in virtual cockpit! With the new planes made for ACOF (and of course later add-on aircraft), we're reaching a point where a 3D virtual cockpit is a viable way to fly and adjust aircraft settings... but it is the WORST to try to adjust engine settings when I get one frame a second, just makes things tedious. So to Santa Claus, since you prolly won't be making it into the next version of Flight Sim, instead of having a completely new rendering engine, or every commercial aircraft in the world modeled, or a version of the sim optimized for 64 bit processors, just give me smooth virtual cockpit gauges! I think that, even if the scenery outside were jerky, if a focus could be placed on keeping the internal-cockpit gauges smooth, it would make for a much more pleasing and less frustrating experience.Kenneth

Aside from a new graphics engine ;), my number one feature request is realistic changes of visibility and wind speed/direction. I don't want to climb above a nice haze layer and have it all suddenly disappear below me and make it so I can see clearly in all directions.

Yes, I second that!Something else I would like to see ...runway slopes.

Apologies for bringing this thread up again but just wanted quickly to add a wish (just in case Bill Gates is reading :-roll):would like to see an improvement (even just a subtle one) in the physics engine so that it feels more like actually flying. Am not a real pilot or anything but recently tried Fly! and looked out the window and it actually felt like the wing was flying / cutting through the air like it does in a real flight. Sometimes in fs it just feels like the wing is too "secure" in the air to have the same realistic kinda feel. besides that, I pretty much love fs2004 as it isthanks Pierre

"just give me smooth virtual cockpit gauges!"Forget that. Just give me smooth -2d- gauges!"...looked out the window and it actually felt like the wing was flying / cutting through the air like it does in a real flight.."Are you flying with light turbulence and/or some wind? I found it helps a lot.Andrew

One more to the list. It would be very cool to have say 3 or 4 ATC accents. They could be Brit, German, Asian and Spanish. You could select which ever was appropriate in the menu. That would really pump up the realism factor when flying world wide.Todd

Some aircraft already feature smooth gauge animations. Try the Katana by Aerosoft or the Warrior by Australian Simulation (both payware). The VC gauges update almost as smoothly as the 2D gauges. Unfortunately, other developers, most notable RealAir and Carenado have not yet mastered the art of smooth VC gauge animations.

hi, well I think this is something an aircraft designer can implement into the vc but it can be a tradeoff. Try this 757 for instance; b753pwvc.zip by Alexei Yarlykov at flightsim.com. The vc gauges are so smooth it affects my textures (dissapearing; bad vidcard) because of the high update rate. But it sure makes for accurate instrument flying. I also like cs 727 but the vc gauge udate rate is appalling, making it unreal to fly accurately.

Just have to be at the right place & the right time......I guess!L.Adamson

Some of the 'wish list' already mentioned are good ideas. I would like to see a start-up option for "cold & dark" with the current time and weather. Also an option to load only AC that you want and eliminate the default AC or an option to choose and reject which you want. Although I realize that one can do this after installing, but it would be simpler the other way.ilovetofly

But I seriously doubt there will ever be a new MSFS... or, maybe look for an X-Box compliant version ....

I personally look at that as a silly comment, because if you think, technology is advancing, and why would MS leave it's community using an "old" version of FS (with crap graphics, sounds, effects etc), when all other programs in the market are then much more advanced, and put the old FS to shame.Only technology limits the program, and with advancing technology/programming, the program will perform better, and look and behave more realisticly. Some how I really doubt that will ever happen. With the number of people who use this simulation, it would be only a fool who would quit when the going is good.http://www.onlinesimulationsolutions.com/sigs/wdosssig.jpg

I would like to see a completely new interface for fs2006. Which would provide simple and fast manipulations. The Interface didn't change since fs2000, so it's time to go on. I can't picture it, but I want an Interface that is much more immersed into the sim itself. Like changes made don't have to be loaded and show up immediatly in the sim etc., etc.I didn't see this request anywhere until now.;) I hope the MS guys get it!cheers,Claudio
