October 2, 201213 yr Anyone have any experience with SYX computers? I am about to pull the trigger on the SYX Venture SG-340, but can not find any consumer reviews? How would this computer handle FSX with add-ons? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3988269&CatId=1886 Thanks, John
October 3, 201213 yr One could go to Newegg and build the same spec list for 500 less, but that is a nice rig! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

How would this computer handle FSX with add-ons? http://www.tigerdire...8269&CatId=1886 Thanks, John Looks great, but I'm holding out for Haswell and am going to bet it will outperform IB machines significantly. If the 'dumb' engineers at Intel chose the 'worst TIM material' over fluxless solder, then they did it of course full well knowing what they were doing, and did this to hamper IB to a point where it was arguably 10% (roughly) more potent than SB, which allows them to make Haswell outperform IB just by replacing the TIM w/ their proven prior method. At least that's my conspiracy theory!! Beyond this John, looks decent for sure, and the $500 may be worth the lack of hassle from doing it yourself risking something faulty in a component or making a blunder during assembly. That IS worth something! I've assembled all of my own for 20 years now and had no troubles but I'm tempted to let someone else do it using good parts like this ones appears to have. October 5, 201213 yr Moderator I just bought my second SYX machine. This latest one is replacing my ancient development computer which I use mainly for Max9, GMax 1.2, Photoshop CS8 and MS Visual Studio (gauge and programs) work: SYX Venture SG-330 http://www.tigerdire...2827141&CatId=6 Two major plusses IMHO make SYX an excellent choice: 1. They are built by TigerDirect's own employees using only namebrand components and have a solid warranty. 2. They come with absolutely NO BLOATWARE at all. For both machines I did price all of the components ahead of time and much to my surprise found that even with the very best prices I could find from multiple sources, I actually wound up paying slightly less that the retail price of the assembled machine, and saved myself hours of time by not having to "build it myself..."
