October 7, 201213 yr I had to reinstall FSX and PMDG NGX due a computer issue. While going through in introduction, I noticed that the old recommendation to for this settng: TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=40996, was no longer included in the SP1c Introduction manual. For the PMDG folks, is it still recommendation to edit this FSX setting to this value: TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096 Thanks, Rich Boll Richard Boll Wichita, KS
October 7, 201213 yr It was found that this setting has no impact on airplanes, therefore is not included. It might still impact other parts of your simulator, so go ahead and add it if you feel like it. --Peter Fabian
October 7, 201213 yr It only has a small (I think) impact on aircraft which support HD textures, like the Carenado's. ORBX- the way to go Sincerely, John McGee
October 7, 201213 yr I am pretty sure the NGX will still work on 1024, however there are some programs like REX that provide 4096x4096 HD textures and also McPhat studios that do high res repaints so the =4096 edit is needed if you want to see the textures.. \Robert Hamlich/
October 7, 201213 yr PMDG NGX textures are mostly 4096, however FSX will show them as 4096 regardless of this setting. I think cloud and terrain textures and textures made with mipmaps (should not be used for NGX) will be affected. --Peter Fabian
October 8, 201213 yr I may be wrong on this, but last time I checked, when it changed back to 1024 after I did some changes in FSX, the NGX textures were displayed as 1024. I'll have a look later today, but I'm 99.99% sure. Name available upon request
October 8, 201213 yr You only need this value if the textures are mipped,to prevent blurries. DIMITRI
