W7 Home Premium vs. W7 PRO

Featured Replies

Good day people. Just wanted to know if there are any advantages with W7 PRO, over the cheaper alternatve ??

Thanks in advance.

Tbh Windows 7 Home Premium is what you should get. Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate have extra little things but in the end it's really not worth it. For example, Professional and Ultimate come with VirtualPC, but you can get VirtualBox from Oracle on any Windows 7 version for free...

As all have mentioned, you will receive absolutely positively no performance differences between Home Premium and Professional.

The only differences are the tools, utilities, and functions which might be more suited to a business environment rather than a home environment, as seen in Zach's linked page.

Basically - if you have to ask, get Home Premium. You would know if you needed the Pro version already. Worst case scenario, you can do an "Anytime Upgrade" from Home Premium to Pro if you find you need some of its features.

Good luck!

Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit is limited to 16GB of ram while the Win 7 Professional 64-bit is 192 GB. Win 7 32-bit is limited to 4GB.

I have the Win7 Professional 64-bit for the extra memory and features. I always get the Professional version at a minimu because you never know when the added features will be needed.
