In an attempt to "prove" that the earth is actually flat, they began constructing a very long pier, extending out into the Gulf of Mexico. I don't recall now just how long they actually managed to build before a hurricane wiped out their work, but it was long enough to demonstrate that their theory was incorrect! Of course, they then had to invent all sorts of "spin" to show how the visible evidence was somehow LYING to them... :)

15L here in Toronto (CYYZ) is sloped a bit. If you stand at the north end of the runway (near dixie road) it slopes upward and you cannot even see the other end.And yes, Courcheval is amazing is it not?See you in the fence...CYYZ

Now if only I could find a sloping lake, I could finally use those water skies I bought three years ago.:-hah
