FSX Freezing Windows 7-Another one

Featured Replies

Hi

As the above title says I am one of the many FSX users out there experiencing "FSX not responding".

I have done many searches on google, downloaded and used the "uiautomationcore.dll" but still no avail.

I notice that about approx within 10 mins fromT/off into flight I suddenly find FSX freezing with the sound in the background still play, then I have to close it down manually from Task Manager.

This seems to happen on all the aircraft I am using from defaults to payware.

.I am running FSX Standard with Service Pack 2 installed.

.I am using Windows 7 64 with DirectX 11

.My systems are as follows:

Intel Core i-5 3450CPU @3.10Ghz (4 CPU's)

8192 MB RAM

Page File: 2099MB used 14072MB Avail

AMD Radeon 6800 HD Series 700MB

Addons are:

Level d 767

UK2000 Manchester with Mantex installed

AES

Aerosoft KosX

ADE software for AFCADS

REX and Ultimate Terrain Europe

1) When did I notice the problem:

I first installed FSX Acceleration Pack, that's when I encountered the above. I therefore removed it and still have the above problem

When I use FSX, I do not use FULL screen, just my preference.

. I load FSX from default flight with default WX aswell.

I see so many reports of the same problems, so its very difficult to pin point the source of the cause.

I am probaly going to have to do a clean new re install from scratch, but even that may not work.

Would welcome any thoughts from you experience FSX users,

Thanks

Many new FSX addons require SP2 or Acceleration installed to function properly. I suspect this is your problem. Before reinstalling Acceleration, run a freeware registry cleaner first. After installing Acceleration, make sure you install SP1 to the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable - http://archive.msdn.microsoft.com/KB961894/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=2067. It didn't make it before Acceleration was released. Microsoft Visuals can also cause installation problems as they are used by developers to properly install your products. FSX/Acceleration used the 2005 Redistributable. Also right click the Acceleration startup and Run as Administrator or disable your User Access Controls. You can find out how to disable UAC by clicking on the Start button and typing User Access Controls in the Search box then looking up and clicking on how to disable UAC.

Best regards,

Jim

Firehawk44,

Thank you for your help and advice,I will definately give it a shot.

On the link you kindly provided, which one of those do I download:

ENU (vcredist_x86.exe)

runtime binary, 2682K, uploaded Jan 14 2009 - 129164 downloads

RuntimeBinary.gifENU (vcredist_x64.exe)

runtime binary, 3151K, uploaded Jan 14 2009 - 103044 downloads

Thanks

The x86 version as FSX is a 32 bit application. You have Windows 7 64 bit but you are running a 32 bit application. I have both versions on my system as I have a 64 bit system too.

Best regards,

Jim

Thanks

Did all the above, but when I start FSX, I can't see any image on the preview box indicated by the red line I have drawn.

Not sure what to do.................I have created such a mess, I just don't know where to begin, any help again is much appreciated.

Untitled_zpsba767b50.jpg

I have no idea what would cause that. Installing the MSV would not have done that. Did you try loading another aircraft? Make sure you do not have duplicate entries for your video card in your FSX.cfg. Like [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580.0.0]. You can have another entry if you have two monitors running on your video card. Check your FSX settings and make sure AF and AA are turned on. In the Graphics section of the FSX.cfg, make sure you have the entry HIGHMEMFIX=1. If none of these suggestions work, rename your FSX.cfg, restart FSX, and let FSX rebuild the fsx.cfg. If that doesn't work, then I think you'll have to reinsert your FSX disk and select the Repair Option when the menu pops up. Once completed, insert your Acceleration disk and do the same thing. Restart your system. Run FSX.

Best regards,

Jim

I have seen that problem with some graphic Drivers, both AMD and nVidia. (I have both)

On AMD I'm using version 12.1 and works just fine. (Had to revert from other updates because of your same problem), but have not tried the latest 12.8

Also run DXDiag and make sure you are up to date.

AA – Antialiasing

AF – Anisotropic Filtering

Cheers.

Thank you so much, downloading as we speak aswell as repairing FSX and \FSX accel.

I am really eager to get FSX up and running, but so far I had one problems after another.

@SkyBus

I updated the links on previous post to the correct addresses.

This new ones are the ones you need for your AMD card, the other links are for embedded motherboard AMD chips.

Thanks Ramon!

This is a copy of my FSX.CFG

Looking at your FSX.cfg, you have your CPU/MB HD Display enabled ( [DISPLAY.Device.Intel® HD Graphics.0.0] ). That should be disabled and the entry deleted from your FSX.cfg. As you can see, the display entries are trying to run FSX at two different resolutions. I think FSX is confused and that's why you are seeing the black startup window. The integral HD graphics chip in your processor has to be disabled somehow. The new Intel Processors with integral graphics are presenting new problems with configuration and setup. Perhaps others here have more information than I have. I do not own or maintain any desktops with integral processors, so I just have not had to deal with it....... yet. I do not understand why your laptop maker had both graphics chips enabled. Hopefully there are experts here that can help you on this.

TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=40 Okay

UPPER_FRAMERATE_LIMIT=44 Lower this to 30

WideViewAspect=False Okay since you are running a laptop.

That's all I can see in your config for now. Tweaks, if any, can be added later after you get FSX up and running efficiently.
