FSX Freezing Windows 7-Another one

Featured Replies

  • Author

Hi again,

Just an update.

I have altered the FSX CFG file as kindly suggested above, but again same situation after 8-10 mins I suffer freeze with the sound still running.

I then elected to do the worst thing of doing a complete re install of FSX, I ran a flight a few hrs ago and still had the Freeze...

Not sure what is happening, I have tried the drivers for graphics as suggested above,But stil no luck.

This is really starting to stress me lol.

Do you think I should use Windows XP if I can get hold of it onto my machine.

I am so tempted to go back to FS9 and Win XP, but in the end that would just be giving up and I would loose out on all the great add ons that are out there for FSX.

When FSX freeze I left it for bout 15 mins and it resumed, then it came to a halt (freeze) and then a further 15 mins resumed and so on.

I really do not know what to do?

Appreciate any help please.

PS. I am using desktop PC

Thanks

I thought you had a laptop as the Radeon Video Card your showed your OP was this - http://www.amd.com/us/products/notebook/graphics/amd-radeon-6000m/amd-radeon-6800m/Pages/amd-radeon-6800m.aspx. I did not see a Radeon 6800 (without the M) for sale by Radeon. There is a 6800 series with video cards like the Radeon 6870 but no 6800 by itself. So, when I did a search to see what your video card was and what it was capable of doing, Radeon showed me the 6800M which indicates it is a card for laptops (the M designation). So I apologize for the confusion.

A lot of people just try to use the internal HD graphics offered by Intel. Did you get rid of the Intel® HD Graphics display that's embedded in your Intel CPU's? This I think is your major problem. You have to disable one or the other and it's my understanding your cannot disable the Intel Graphics via the Device Manager but only through your system BIOS. Look for a switch in your BIOS that switches the graphics to Fixed Mode. It should then allow you to select your AMD Radeon Video Card as the sole display device. Once this is done, you should get a massive performance increase. How exactly it is done with your computer's BIOS is unknown. You'll just have to go into the BIOS and look for this switch to tell your BIOS that you have an AMD Radeon video card. What I don't understand is that your system BIOS should have turned it off automatically when it saw you had a video card installed. What I don't understand is that when you search for how to turn off HD graphics, they only talk about laptops.

Your FSX config you submitted above shows both your AMD video card and your embedded HD graphics in the CPU are being read by FSX as installed on your system. Hopefully someone much, much smarter than me (and Google) can figure this one out!

Best regards,

Jim

Thank you Jim

You are very smart in thinking about the above, it didn't cross my mind about duplicate graphics, I will try and see what I can do about adjusting the BIOS tomorrow.

I can,t imagine its memory related?

Will report back later in the week

Kind regards

Hello Jim

I tried to access the BIOS and it says my primary graphics is PCI Express.

My FSX CFG has changed from the re install I did, would welcome any further help.

Skybus, sorry to hear you are still having problems.

Do you have this Vista x86 version of UIAutomationCore.dll 6.0.5840.16386 file in your main FSX folder?

If you don't then

You can download this from here, place it in the FSX root folder and rename it as "UIAutomationCore.dll" (no quotes)

Also please try this:

// Add this to your fsx.cfg

[GRAPHICS]

HIGHMEMFIX=1

[sOUND]

SOUND_LOD=1 // Set value to 1

// Under Options Sound, select your sound cards for both Primary and Voice Devices so you don't

// have {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} valued GUID'S.

Thanks Ramon

Will give it a go now................ where would I find the option you described here:

// Under Options Sound, select your sound cards for both Primary and Voice Devices so you don't

// have {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} valued GUID'S.

PrimaryDevice={00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

VoiceDevice={00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

I'm not at my PC right now, but from the main FSX screen -> options you should find the Sound options, from there you can select both, they are default right now as you have not selected your sound card.

Found it but cannot alter it

Can't you click the down arrows under Sounds and Voice?

Try starting FSX as an Administrator. (Select fsx.exe, Right Click and Select Run as Administrator)

Skybus

Had the excact same issue with a new build a few months ago, after spending several weeks hunting down the cause and having updated every driver, reinstall of FSX re load of the OS which was win7 and still no cure, I then for some reason downloaded updated chipset drivers from the ASUS website and bingo....No more freezing of FSX.

Worth a try if you have not tried it.

I have also placed the UIAutomationCore.dll in the following:

C: Programe Files (x86) Microsoft Flight Sim X

And now I am getting this............not sure what happened

Untitled4_zps67ffab6d.jpg

Ok, I only have one more idea.

I see you have Voice unchecked, try checking it and then see if you can click on the drop down arrows of Sounds and Voice.

The picture shows no textures are being loaded/rendered. Did you try taking the uiautomationcore.dll out of the main fsx directory to see if the problem persists? The uiautomationcore.dll is part of Microsoft.net which developers use to make sure you application runs the way they developed and it also manages memory. Perhaps the uiautomationcore.dll is not the right one and is conflicting your your installation of FSX. Microsoft installs the proper version of dotnet if it is not already found on your system. It sees the latest version (4.5) and installs FSX. But FSX was made for Vista OS's and when individuals installed FSX on a Vista system, Microsoft installed the proper version of dotnet. For the first time ever, Microsoft included dotnet 4.0 with the Windows 7 OS. The fact that you got FSX to run with the uiautomationcore.dll installed in the FSX directory is a plus. You just need to be sure it is the right version (Vista version).

Ramon may be on the right track. In your latest FSX.cfg, FSX did not see a sound card (you just have a bunch of 0's for the primary/voice device). That cannot be. FSX will have problems if it cannot find sound or there is a sound card driver conflict.

Your latest fsx.cfg should be modified as I suggested in my earlier post.

Best regards,

Jim
