October 19, 201213 yr Hi, I have been searching the net all day trying to find the correct order of the scenery libary (for UTX) - with all 4 installed (usa/europe/canada/alaska) but have been unsuccessful. I did manage to find a post somewhere saying the order should be like the first screen shot (but did not include Alaska - so still not 100% sure) I found others saying do not change the order from the installed default - but this post said otherwise. The second screen shot is of the default UTX order after install. The blue boxes are the UTX entries The Red boxes are where its been changed from default - and where im not sure its ok. So my main question is... are the red box entries ok and correct? Thank you for your help in advance - this is doing my head in. (also as a side note - changing the order in FSX does not change the order in the scenery.cfg file (in either of its 2 locations) - is this normal? October 19, 201213 yr Don't ahv all that scenery, so can't tell you for sure, but don't think moving around the FSX waterclass or Object Repositioning will make any difference, except if you have other scenery for those areas, and even then very few mess with waterclass so probably only if objects are moved or replaced by other scenery. Don't see any difference in moving the lighting around. The main thing I thnk is you have to decide if you want the Scenerytech or UTX landclass taking priority and moving them accordingly. scott s. .
October 19, 201213 yr Read section 10 of the Alaska UTX manual. It tells you all you need to know. Stephen Munn
October 19, 201213 yr Some sceneries/AFCADs may require you in the README to put it above all UTX terrain, so do that if it says to. i7-6700K @ 4.5 GHz, 16 GB DDR4-2400 MHz, GTX 1070 8GB
October 19, 201213 yr Author Just read that part of the manual - didnt answer my question though. Also im not asking about any other addons - just the reletive order (excluding the scenerytech landclass) of UTX. I seem to have zero roads now as well with the changed order (the red and blue screenshot) ---- Think ive really mucked things up. - do you think its better to have it back to how it was originally? - least i had roads with that. Just seemed like "usa road lighting' was in the wrong place? Timez
October 19, 201213 yr I would move all of the Scenery Tech Landclass above UTX in the Scenery Library because you have UTX trumping all of your landclass. You can also disable Europe and North America in your SceneryTech Landclass by unchecking the box next to it. See what that does. October 20, 201213 yr For the correct layering of UTX, please read the FAQ http://www.simforums...topic24965.html SceneryTech landclass works fine with UTX, and as long as it is layered correctly, is a must have addition. THIS IS FOR ALL VERSIONS OF UTX. The urban/vegetation layer sandwich for landclass is universal to all UTX releases A: After installing your secondary landclass files, enter the scenery library through the FSX control panel, locate the landclass files you use and place them in the library list between the following UTX items: UT LANDCLASS - Urban LANDCLASS X <-------------- Place all landclass products between the UTX Urban and Vegetation layers and enable as needed (only ONE) LANDCLASS Y <------------------| LANDCLASS Z <------------------| UT LANDCLASS - Vegetation Click OK and let the database build. October 20, 201213 yr Author I'd already read that "landclass and how it affects what you see" it only tells me where to put the UT vegitation layer - and urban layer. I need to know the correct order of ALL the Ultimate terrain layers (ignoring anything else - including scenery tech) it does not mention usa lights - or object repositioning etc. And those are the ones im confused about. The red boxes have been changed from the way UT installed itself - hence why its broken. does anyone know the order *just* the ultimate terrain entries need to be - compared to other UT entries. October 20, 201213 yr changing the order in FSX does not change the order in the scenery.cfg file (in either of its 2 locations) - is this normal? Not normal. You should not touch the default scenery.cfg located in the folder with FSX.cfg. The other location - C:\ProgramData folder - is where the working config resides. Sometimes it gets corrupted when the Areas/Layers numbers do not match and are not in numerical order but I don't think that would affect anything. It should be changing though when you move scenery around in the Scenery Library. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! October 20, 201213 yr Commercial Member Either of the two relative orderings of the UTX entries in the FSX Scenery Library should work. So your issue with not being able to see roads is because of something else. Head over to the official UTX fourm at SimForums for more help. Jeff
October 20, 201213 yr Author Just wanted to let you know i seem to have fixed it... I did exactlly what your not supposed to - alter the scenery.cfg file (the real one) - and the terrain.cfg files. The numbers in there were a mess - i reordered them by hand and changed the numbers so they were all in order - and also that the layer number matched the area numbers. I now have roads again - and it looks like i have everything else too - thank god - because i was about to uninstall all my add-ons and start again - would have been a nightmare. Anyway pleased to say its fixed Thank you all for your help Timez
October 21, 201213 yr Glad you got it fixed. Every time you move a Scenery Library scenery up or down in the Library, the scenery.cfg gets corrupted. Most of the time it isn't a problem but you have a lot of addon stuff. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
