October 22, 201213 yr That is 44% / 56% and close to the 40/60 that I believe represents the potential market for the right product The math seems a little flawed. More like 75/25 (adding P3D in with FSX)?
October 22, 201213 yr Have you seen the latest AVSIM poll on sim choice? As of now out of 340 votes cast FS9 only has 22.9%, That's even less then QW says. http://forum.avsim.n...-sim-of-choice/ I find such polls astonishing - that fs9 is even still 'alive' let alone anywhere near a significant percentage. And some of those 'predominant' FSX users run both. That is not to say it translates into commercial viability, but that's amazing. Regards, Mark
October 22, 201213 yr No... have the FSX gang gone and hijacked it, then?? 392 now plays 495 on the downloads mentioned above... That is 44% / 56% and close to the 40/60 that I believe represents the potential market for the right product. Freeware is a different ballgame altogether. We're talking about commercial development, here. Involving money, which inevitably bars the casual freeware downloaders. The math doesn't apply, as far as I'm concerned. More of the "hardcore crowd" is, quite obviously, moving to FSX for the "latest and greatest" in commercial add-ons. Don't get me wrong, some of my favorite/most used add-ons are freeware. Again, I just think using freeware as a compass for commercial success in this market is a bad idea. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
October 22, 201213 yr The math seems a little flawed. More like 75/25 44/56 per downloads as mentioned Freeware is a different ballgame altogether. Agree, but the downloads indicate the number of people interested in the FS flavours, based on personal preference. Now you have to sell the product to them. The FS9 crowd might be less likely to buy yet another B737 whereas the FSX users have less to choose from and may go for it, at this point. I would not buy another FS9 737, but would queue around the block for a good 787. I am clutching at straws because I really cannot predict what would be popular or not. Some of the stuff I've uploaded did much better than I thought, while really interesting stuff may have evinced a yawn from the community. I'd like to convince QW to give it a go...
October 22, 201213 yr No problem. They don't want my money, I'm happy to find another developer who does. That is something you are going to find less and less as time goes on! FSX is now totally playable these days. Simon Roberts
